Was wondering if someone (Krazy Kat) could give the URL for the SP frame. And no, there was no SP preview on Spirit of Mickey. I think Disney has really strict scheduling rules it goes by and now that Mulan is dying out it probably wants to focus on Pocahontas II and then SP. And to all the TLK/SP fans here (I suppose that's just about everyone), I'm not dissin' Pocahontas or anything but don't buy that movie! Rent it if you want (I might), but buy SP and Disney will know where the real interest lies. I really wouldn't mind a TLK3 even. And please just rent "Titanic." Nothing against that movie either but I would hate to see it take TLK's place as the number one selling home video of all time. Peace and love to everyone.

AARRGGGHHHH! My parents just told me I couldn't pre-order SP, in fact, they won't even buy it until December. They said they'd give it to me for Christmas. I have two wait two extra months while everyone else is watching it. This is torture, why do they hate me??? Okay, here's an plan, nobody else buy it until December, that way I won't be left out. Hey all,
I saw the SP frame on a web page; it's nice except- excuse me- Pumbaa kind of looks like he's- mooning Nala or shoewing off his rear- I believe Nala is the first animal to stand downwind!!!
On the TLK-L, Steele so graciously told us that there are new SP ceramic figurines and I quote,
"They also have a music box with a linticular hologram
of Kovu and Kiara rolling and pouncing in the woods. This box plays a
new song titled "Upendi", although it was only a music box, this song
sounded quite good. :)"
Well, I'm going to my Disney store tomorrow and if no one beats me to it I shall update. =)

Hollywood, if it helps you w/that 3rd question, from what I've been told by Disney Store CM's is that merchandise for SP starts coming out (noticeably I guess) in August; it wouldn't surprise me if we start to see some figures between then and SP's release. Beyond that speculation, I really haven't a clue.

Beerit, a lioness is pregnant for about 105 till 112 days. She's sexually mature at the age of 2. and they will have kids every 2 years. Hyena's are pregnant for about 110 days. Just a little check-up for you. I really love every film of nature about Afrika!! Someone below told about the show where the lionesses were far more interested in black maned lions... I saw that show too! It was very funny and TLK related.
Yeah, great how those childhoos movies can make you happy every time you see them. I remember the scene of Bambi with the bush fire when I was just a little Dara. Then I was screaming out loud with my even younger sister till our throats were hurting....

Hey, I just saw Mulan & it was GREAT! Mushu the dragon was the best 'cause he was really Timonish. I hought it was pretty funny.They kinda used some TLKstuff in Mulan, though. The avalanch looked alot like the stampeied in TLK. Ya know, BIG cliff, lotsa little dudes runin' over it... Then in one part, some guy said "Who are You?" & Mushu said "The question is: Who are you?" Is it just me or is that the Simba/Rafiki thing by the reflection pool?

Uhmmm... I'm a real Disney fan Beerit. I liked all Disney animations, well at least almost all of them (except for Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Black Couldron, Fantasia en Toy Story) They were not bad (yes, yes, except for Pooh!) but the stories were just not great enough.

Oh, just one small thing Christian. If, and it's a pretty big if, Disney were to follow the British Monarchy then Kiara would become queen on Simba's death, even if Nala was alive. Nala would become the Queen Mother :-). Of course, if any male cubs were born to Simba (and Nala, but that's not essential to the succession) they would be 'first in line' to the throne, ahead of the older Kiara. There again, I doubt Disney are following the any particular monarchy.
Well Christian, you don't need any help from me, you're doing just fine :-). What you say is correct. There's little doubt in my mind that Disney drew on British royal ceremonial for insiration for CoL, both in imagery and style. The most famous British choral work is probably "Zadok the Priest", a coronation amthem from 1726 or thereabouts (dates never were my strong point). This starts quietly, the strings biulding up and eventually giving way to brass. The choir itself comes in about midway with probably one of the best 'give 'em hell' fortissimo entries in the entire choral reportoir. If you are not expecting it (and even if you are) this will blow you away! The words go like this:
A few thoughts: What's this about Kiara being the most boring character on SP?!?!?! The book that comes out in August may just be an activity book. It's called "Simba's Pride: Come Out and Play." If it does give a story it will probably be very thin, but, of course, it might still be good enough for us. There could be a whole bunch of books though. If the lions follow the same royalty pattern as the royalty of the United Kingdom (where I lived for about a year and a half) then Kiara and Kovu could get married and Kiara could become the queen at Simba and Nala's death and Kovu wouldn't be the king at all; he'd be like a duke or something. The husband of Queen Elizabeth II has never been the king (I believe his title is Duke of Edinburgh; someone may correct me on this). When we see Simba & Nala and Kiara & Kovu it may not be any coronation ceremony but may be just presenting them to all the animals after they got married as the princess and her groom. I'm sure Chris Boyce would know more about the royalty thing than me.
Hi all, no rumor just a little lion info. I saw a show a while back that said that lioness' are more attracted to lions with black manes, no wonder Scar has a whole pride of lioness followers and Kovu's gettin the queen!

Beerit - three that we've seen so far. So any speculation that there's more is just guessing. There could be, but so far there is no *evidence* for that. Sure, if later previews etc show there are more, or make it clear who they are then fine. Until then three's all we can comment on.
KRAZY CAT maybe i was a bit out of line but pooh isn't bad but I watched him when I was young and I liked him and thanks for answering my question . how will kovu become king unless simba dies or is dethroned I'm hoping someone can answer that it is really an itch to me thanks.

You are right Elyse, I don't know everything about SP, but I do know that Nuka is not part of Simba's pride. From the start, Nuka has been associated with the Scar-type lions.

elyse, that theory sounds pretty good, except I doubt that Nuka is in Simba's Pride because I read in various places on the net he is decribed as crazy and thinks he can kill Simba himself...but maybe it's changed since then? Vitani is said to be similar to Shenzi. I need to see that frame!! I have no car yet so I have to get my mom to take me places (augh) and she's always like, "We'll go to the mall this week" then it changes to "We'll get there next week.." but we won't get into that...
hi guys!! well, i went to the disney store sunday & they had the display for the pre-order. the pumbaa & kiara puppets are pretty cute. they also had the sp picture frame that i bought. and i have to say from the look vitani is giving kovu on the frame she's definitely not his sister. the way i perceive it, vitani is looking @ kovu in an amorous way. meanwhile kovu is looking @ kiara & vice verce. so maybe the storyline is something along the lines of kiara & nuka are "betroathed" (nuka is in simba's pride) & vitani & kovu are also "betroathed" (vitani's in scar's pride), but then kovu & kiara meet & they fall for each other, so nuka gets jealous & starts doing all sorts of underhanded evil things because he really wants to be king of priderock, but in the end he gets exiled or killed or something. as for vitani, maybe she has a good heart deep down & really cares for kovu, but realizes that kiara & kovu were meant to be together and in the end she helps them out. just speculation based on the picture frame.

Ok, i just went to the movie database for SP and they DID NOT list zazu for a character where they have the voices for people!!!!!! it also said lacey was doing kiaras young voice so maybe it is her, im still sceptical but i cant fight w/ it if it is her.
Chris, your right, the voice may very well be Lacey, i mean she could change it for the movie or whatever. Its just that lacey has a very distiguished voice and its kinda hard to miss, also, she has like the PERFECT voice for a young girl, i think its kinda strange that disney would make her change her voice if she already has the voice of a child.thats just what i think, whatever anyone else guesses could just as much be right.
Beerit, you are missing the point. voice actors are hired because they can create portray the character in the 'best' way. Actors regularly have to modify their vocal characteristics, and speak in different accents and speech patterns, it's all part o the job. Now, IF Disney did sign Lacey for Young Kiara then it would be because she can create a convincing Young Kiara. She might do that by sounding like she did in some other show, or she might have do it by using more of her voice acting skills. In short there's no reason to think that she'd sound exactly like she's sounded before, she might, she might not. If they did hire her (or any other voice talent come to that) it is certainly not because of who they are, it is because they can create the character. This is the basis of all acting. It has become common in the for comedy and other stars, to take on screen persona's that are deliberately confusible with their own - A prime example being Rosanne - but that is most certainly not the norm for acting in the wider world. It should not be taken to mean that actors and actresses always 'play themselves', they don't.
That's OK. I would be mad if someone had said that too. Personally, I think that TLK rules!!!!!!

I'm sorry, Tiara..I just get defensive about that kind of stuff..um, from what I've heard ("We Are One") SP's music doesnt seem to me like it'll be too bad but I think TLK's will still be better...well, let's just hope that We Are One wasnt the best song in the movie! I do like We Are One a lot, but I do think they could have done better...

Tiara, TLKoB stands for The Lion King on Broadway. TLK was just OK? And you think SP will be BETTER? I for one think SP will be alright for a sequel, but in my eyes, and I'm sure many others here, NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING can add up to the gracefullness, emotion, and wonder of what is The Lion King.

Just a note about my post below----I am fully aware that the Feature Division has nothing to do with SP. In this post I was just stating that the Feature division's projects (such as Hunchback and Hercules) have not made impressive box office numbers but have made money for Disney on video anyway.

Chris- Whedon is a GREAT screenplay writer. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the main reasons I own a television. (Besides for watching TLK, of course) Have you ever even watched any of the eps? If you have you can't possibly talk about him that way. I hope he's working on SP.
Chris, you are right, Disney could make SP much better, but the reality is that it has a much lower budget than TLK. I think more might have been poured in to SP if it was a theatrical release, but since somebody at Disney thinks it is more cost efficient to do a direct-to-video, I guess we just have to have faith that SP will be a worthy sequel to TLK.

Hey, I almost forgot- I was watching the Mr Magoo preview for the 345787987955th time lastnight, and, I noticed- they were kinda portraying Simba as-nasty, I thought. Cuz here he is, nice and sweet in the "We Are One" Clip (BTW, someone said We Are One did not live up to their expectations a long time ago-this message is kinda outdated, but I really like "We Are One"! anyway..) and suddenly he's all "GET OUT!" and "You were banished with the other outsiders!" etc.
Hey all. Someone sad Vitani was cool but she looked like a boy? She looks like a tomboy to me, but not a total boy. I mean, if you took Shenzi's "Bangs" away and added Banzai's hair, she'd look like a tomboy too except for the pointy nose- well, maybe not- but that's not the point. I think Vitani's appearance makes her unique from the other lionesses and gives her character. And that's why I think she's going to be one of my favorites- I just hav to hear her SAY SOMETHING first....

Ok, I can't help but open my big mouth about this scar thing. Looking through a few screen-grabs of the Mr Magoo trailor (specifically the one where Kovu is watching Kiara who's getting ready to roar), I found no indication of a scar over his left eye. I sincerely hope that the artist(s) of the envelope made a boo-boo with that. In all honesty, I think that giving Kovu a Scar-like scar would make him too Scar-ish. So unless the writers have a really *really* good reason for giving him a wound like that, it's going to be real boring.

I just had to point one little detail out... With all the rumors running around about Kovu carrying a scar something came to mind. The only evidence (that I am aware of at least) is the posted picture for the litho-cover. I saw it and it is rather blatant, but even after that I had to point out one fact, I went back and went through both the We Are One trailer, and the Magoo Trailer, frame by frame, and saw not one trace of a scar on Kovu throughout either. So, in all likelihood, even if he does end up scarred I'd have to wager that it doesn't happen until the end of the film.

That's a pretty amusing concept, Krazykat... however, I'll wager that the employees of your local Disney store probably are just uninformed. The likelihood of a part-time employee making around $6-7 an hour starting and maintaining a nationwide scheme to fool TLK lovers is just not very... well, feasible? :)
Swyft, I suspect that the Disney Store "Cast" is telling us all different things to get us confused and keep us hanging. Maybe this is part of Disney's new marketing plan, along w/ the more adult previews.
Hey, I forgot to say this earlier, but when I bought my Kovu and Kiara beany babies a few days ago, the sales manager said Kovu was Scar's _protege_, he didn't actually say he was his son or grandson or whatever. I wonder why everyone is getting told different things?
I have to agree w/ beerit, lacey chabert IS NOT kiara! i dont care what anyone else says! Party of Five is my favorite tc show and ive pretty much seen ever episode and im pretty familiar w/ her voise and kiara sounds nothing like her! maybe kiara will sing and lacey will do that but i really dont think that kiaras speaking voice is her. if im wrong, than whatever!

I just saw something that revealed why Kovu has a scar on that envelope for the litho. I was surfing through Timduru's SP site, when I saw a picture of Kovu and Simba roaring at each other, and I looked closely and saw a SCAR on his left eye!!!! The URL for anyone who wants to see the pic is at:
My story is taking longer than planned, work, fixing car and The Lion King Chat take up a lot of my time. Especially work. I done chapter 10 need to edit it and post it, 11 is also done, also needs editing. 12 is in my head being worked out as I type this.
Panther, my "Calypso Chronicles" stories arent sci-fi, they just take place in another dimension. They are not in the Text Files archive because Brian said they were not related enough to TLK. I am currently working on my Sarafina story which should be done soon as soon as i get in touch w/ Chris Boyce...

I don't believe it is possible to inherit a scar, but that doesn't matter anyway: we've seen Kovu as a cub, and he doesn't have a scar as a young little fella.
Ok, i think disney is trying to make it ovious that kovu is scars son, i mean, its not every day you just look exactly like someone else and have a scar in the same exact place! i think its a clue to everyone that he is indeed linked to scar someway(for the people who havent gottan into the simbas pride research). i looked at the mr magoo preview and i didnt see the scar, but they really didnt get kovus left side so it was kinda hard to see, maybe the person making the envelope messed up or something, i donno, but i do think that kovu is related to scar someway, maybe not his son, but somehow blood related.

I agree with locking Pooh Bear into a room and make him watch Barney and listen to Hanson, but don't u think that making him watch TLK over and over again and with reviews on TLK about how it was the greatest and including reviews on how great SP is gonna be while reading hate mail from us on how we hate him is a better punishment? Sorry for the run on sentence u guys.
I am curious about the scar on Kovu's eye but I don't know that scars are inherited. Maybe a mistake made by the artist who didn't know the full story? Or maybe Kovu really does get a scar during his fight with Simba. Barney is definitely worse than Pooh. I'm just glad I live 10 miles from Disneyland where they're keeping the Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. thanx brian for the link to krazy kat's story.my mom ordered simba's pride for me today in the disney store. i got the lithograph and the kiara handpuppet. the puppet is cute and the litho is beautiful.i liked the envelope the litho came in, but kovu had a scar over his eye like Scar. i guess its a mistake. krazy kat, no more simba kills pooh stories ? how bout a simba kills barney and hanson story ? that would be interesting. maybe i'll write one. anyway, i saw the simba's pride picture frame. very nice. i like vitani and i don't think her hair do is ugly. it gives her character. if she's like shenzi i know i'll like her. too bad nuka wasn't on the frame, i wanna see him. dara, i was on elsa's pride a few days ago and saw that the authors of under the acaia's wrote a story about jaguars. i think i'll go check it out. hakuna matata ! I finally made it to the Disney Store today, and was excited to see the Simba's Pride frame. It looks great! I didn't buy it though (it is $18). I figure we'll be seeing tons of SP merchandise soon, and I don't have the room or money to get everything.

Look Folks, We know absolutely nothing about Nuka and Vitani. About all we've seen of them is a couple of beanies. It's really too early to be making any kind of speculation about what part they play in SP. We DO know they look as though they have some relationship to each other, and Kovu - that much is obvious from the beanies - but what that relationship might be is open to debate. Its pointless making up whole plots around what they might be like, because they will almost certainly be wrong. What this mill is suffering from is a lack of reliable new information to chew over, lets wait and see what happens next...

hey guess what? I FINALLY got my Kovu and Kiara beanies. Except Kiara's face looks really weird, her chin looks messed up. Kovu is cute though. I haven't been here in awhile so this might be old news, but I was at Blockbuster the other day and I saw this sign that said you could now reserve Simba's Pride.
Hello, i just resently emailed disney records and asked them about the SP soundtx. they said it should come out in october. i also asked them if there would be a musical preview on their web page, they said that there would be. i donno if they will have all the songs or just "we are one". They said this preview would come out betweem Sept-Oct.
Nala brought up a good point.. Nuka as be Kiara's betrothed... only thing is, Nuka wants to kill Simba from what I've read. But I guess that might be true, there could be reasons like Nuka wants the throne right away or Simba starts to approve of Kiara and Kovu together and it makes Nuka mad? (after all, it did say Nuka was supposed to be crazy on that one site with the first info) Just ramblings....

Sorry! My mistake! I just checked the internet movie database and Suzanne Pleshette is Zira's voice. Kathleen Turner is her singing voice. And did anyone know that Kimberly Scott is the singing voice for Adult Kiara. Now I can't wait to hear that!
Real quick, I should read more of this before I post. Kathleen Turner is voicing Zira, and from what my mom says, she has a realy throaty voice. Great villaness! Kiara--That frame that you were talking about, is that the one you got with the movie, or was it in the ad on NBC?
I heard talk of a Lady and the Tramp sequel some time ago while crusing around the net, about last summer, but I havent heard anything on it since then. From what I had read it was going to be on the very Tramp-like puppy at the end, identified as Scamp in several children's books on him and his Lady-like sisters.. I seriously hope they DO NOT make a sequel because it would ruin this classic movie which is also one of my faves (Long live Peg and Tramp!!)
Lady and the Tramp is going to be re-released in the US and i guess Canada on September 1st, 1998. That's even closer to SP- so maybe there will be a preview on there? With maybe- Vitani or Nuka??? It doesnt really bother me they're not showing Vitani or Nuka in the previews yet because I'd like to be surprised.
So remember L&T returns to video september 1st...I'm getting it- my Lady and the Tramp on a blank tape just cant handle being watching 3,000 more times....
Also look out for The Black Cauldron- August 4th, i believe someone said?? I heard that people were not all impressed w/ that movie and it didnt get great reviews, but i remember The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go to Heaven and Balto didnt get such great reviews and they are among my favorite animated movies of all time.

how long is a lioness pregnent?
I saw some pics of TLK today, after not laying eyes on a single frame in the movie in a long time.
gees, cub Nala was'nt that good looking as I rememberd. I though Kiara was kinda ugly in the we are one preview,
but now we know she's not. In fact, she's 10 times more beautifull then Nala. Grown Nala was that much of a beauty eather.
I dont know, I think Kiara is very pretty. Much more then Nala ever was. cool.

Now then, If Rafiki is Zadok, and the animals are people then - well, you probably get the idea.
These lithos, frame and what have you; they are generally not much related to scenes from the film itself. Generally the idea is to get the characters together so that they can be seen. I don't expect to see the same groups together at the same time, so it's really difficult to read much into them. I've not seen the frame, but Vitani's look to Kovu has been described as both 'sly' and 'seductive', and as I understand it she's still a young cub? Is that right? In which case 'seductive' hardly seems appropriate? Hmmm....

Sorry for the outburst, call 11. But in answer to your question, i think the lioness you're talking about is Zira the villianess. She is raising Kovu to kill Simba but Kovu doesnt want to. It is said that Zira is Kovu's mother- but that info is not 100% efficient.

Timon, an e-toy is a company of or by (not sure) Mattel. e-toys are making Simba's Pride plushies and beanies- but note- they are hideous, and I advise you get any SP products from The Disney Store- the beanies are already out (Kovu, Kiara, Timon and Pumbaa) and I'm hoping there are soon Nuka and Vitani beanies and SP plushies...Hope that helped!

About the lithos-----Disney does a LOT of subcontracting these days, so in all likelihood the artwork was not done by a Disney employee. Disney subcontracts artwork all the time-----the artwork in the "Ducktales" and "Mickey Mouse" magazines was done by numerous studios and they usually got a credit for this.
I agree that Kiara looks like the most boring character in SP, at least visually.

Hmm, the more I look and think about Vitani, the more I like her. I think I am now an official Vitani Holic. I don't really care if she comes out good or bad in the movie; either way they're usually really good (Like i know many Simba holics like myself but there are also tons of Scar Holics- including myself ;)
I like Kiara a lot, but she seems kind of plain to me as a cub. I think she looks cooler as an adult. Someone asked me, "Do you think Vitani will lose those bangs when she grows up?" if we see her as an adult that is. My answer is I hope not! She is the most unique lioness next to Zira I've ever seen!

Beerit, I loved your thoughts about Kiara calling to her dad that she loves Kovu. It sounds like a great lovescene! And about the SP tape... I know how you feel. With me the same thing, I'll have to wait that awfully long too. If I only knew when the video would be released... If I'll have to wait too long I will order it in the US. But I think they will release it outside the US. You know..... big money!.... Don't despare!
Maybe it's just a stupid thought, but I think they're putting some newcomers on the job of creating those lithographs and covers for all sort of TLK/SP related things! God, all that artwork, it's awful!! I know I can't do it any better, but they could at least TRY to make some good looking drawings! (I liked the envelope though) It's just such a dissopointment after seeing the preview.
That Vitani and Kovu being brother and sister thing would be great! And about Kovu having the scar, maybe Disney is about to make people even more curious with that Scar. People would say, look! told ya! that Scar's son for sure!! Maybe it's just that people want him to be Scar's son.
(I do at least....) But it could be a screw-up. I mean, they did already mixed up colours of the lion cubs, so Kovu became to look like young Simba!

About Sarafina being in SP, she could very well be, it does'nt mean she isn't, I don't remember seeing her in any TLK previews because of her greaat biig role in TLK...(sarcasm) And if she is in SP, she probably has just one line or maybe a few, unless her role is more important in SP, which is unlikely seeing all the new characters and what we have of the plot...

Just got back from the Wisconsin Dells and surrounding area (major tourist area). Thought you might like to hear that the group of us found several Lion King items there. They have old collector shops and we found ornaments, old applause plushies, figurines (including adult Simba in the Sandra Brue collection), and a snowglobe we had never seen before of baby Simba and Nala. It was really cool to see these in such a busy area.
Also we found a new SP item in Appleton. It was at the Toy's R Us store there. It's a SP board game named Hop-a-Croc (could be slightly off on the name). The game itself was much like the TLK game before it, definitely for kids. It did have really nice graphics on the cover though. We just thought this was cool since it's the first item other than the beanies to be found at a store other than Tne Disney Store or an online store (at least by us anyway).

There are three adult lionesses following Zazu (flying) Timon and Pumbaa. Who are they? Frankly I don't have any idea. I once suspected that one might have been Zira, but now we've seen her it's clear that even in profile she'd be very easy to spot, so no, none of the lionesses appear to be Zira. What about Vitani? I don't know, I've not seen her as an adult but from you folk's descriptions it sounds that she'd be pretty easy to reconise too. All I can tell is that the first lioness seems darker/greyer than the others, Sarabi perhaps? Would that mean the others were Sarafina and Nala, or Nala and Kiara? I don't know, they could be anyone (except Zira I think).

but generally, the voice itsalf, even with the most odd accent put into it, cant be changed completly! if they told her to make voices like a duck then maybe it would have sounded differant, but they tell her to just TALK! with some changes in speech patterns or whatever, but she's still talking. that's MY point.
I dont think she'll sing in SP. her voice has lots or jumps. I can hear it a lot of times on party of five. but Chris is right about that, maybe she's just trying to sound casual? not some 15 year old with a perfect voice, u know?

we dont know which pride that was. besides, the first lioness was'nt in the same color as Zira, who is the leader of her pride (& we dont even know that!) so if she is, why is'nt she first in line? maybe it was sarafina! or nala! or some lionesses coming back after looking 4 kiara (if she did run away) & that's why they're looking down. they did'nt find her. that should explain why zazu P & T r with them. they looked 4 Kiara too. hey, that's a good idea!!!!!!

I guess what I'm really trying to say here is that just because Young Kiara doesn't sound much like Lacey Chabert doesn't *necessarily* mean she is not voiced by her - it might well mean it does however. Then the problem is to work out who Kiara IS voiced by. Have you any ideas who that voice is?

Meanwhile, Disney TV animation seems to be flourishing: One Saturday Morning on ABC (which is not really Disney-esque) has been a big hit, the division is working on many direct to video projects, and the studio is expanding its horizons with a diverse team of writers and artists. It seems that the tables are being turned, as the Disney TV division was often overlooked and Disney Feature was always highly praised and very visible in the media.

On a related note, I wonder what the future of Walt Disney Feature Animation will be. They have more employees than ever before but the films they are making now seem to most successful for Disney on home video. Even The Lion King, which made a mint at the box office, was even bigger on video: It became the number one best selling video of all time!

I am not doubting your ability to find inforamtion. I have already seen the reference at the URL you give. What I do doubt is whether Josh Whedeon's involvement is a good thing. It may be, but not just because he was involved with writing 'Toy Story' - did he do any of the lyrics for that? Or did he just work on the screenplay?
Sure, there may well be glowing reports of his work, but so far I've not found any :-(. Had I found some I would be more optimistic.
Look, there are a lot of rather better lyricists than Marty Panzer (who wrote 'We Are One', which while being hummable is hardly brilliant lyrically) and Josh Whedon. We also know (or are fairly sure) that Hans Zimmer is not writing the score - it looks that Nick Glennie-Smith is (who worked on TLK). This all looks as if Disney are NOT using the big musical guns which they *Could* have got to do SP. Not that any of these folks are second-rate or anything, but face it, they are not Rice-John and Zimmer. "We Are One" may well be the best song in SP (I think reports have said there will be five in all). This is not a particularly good sign. There again, the reviewer could well be totally wrong - I *hope* so.

Ooh, i reeeeaaally like Zira. I hafta admit, when i saw her picture w/out seeing the whole clip and her voice- she seemed kind of weird looking to me. but when she says "These lands belong to Scar!" she looks really cool...you all probably know this already but hey, i just got to see the clip!

ooh, one more thing! (sorry) why was there so much controversy over whether the song on mr magoo was "He Lives in you" or "They live in you"?? "He Lives in You" is a much more full song and I think ANYONE can distinguish Lebo M from the guy that did Mufasa on TLKoB...plus...the two versions are alike in some ways, but they are very different if you listen to them back to back.

So you are saying that we should give up hope just because of ONE CRITIC'S opinion regarding the abilities of Josh Whedon? Reviews from critics can be very different and I'm sure that there's been a glowing one for Whedon at some point.
About the Kovu with the scar thing: Why are you guys saying that this litho has an error on it? That's a mighty significant error to make. How the heck can you say that Kovu without a doubt does not have a scar just from the Mr. Magoo trailer? The Magoo trailer doesn't show the whole movie!

Beerit (and anyone else wondering) -- a lithograph is an old, old, *old* style of photography. Instead of printing pictures on paper (like today), the ink was transfered directly to something such as a sheet of aluminum or zinc metal. At least that's what my dictionary said.

There's no sign - so far - of Sarafina appearing in SP at all, and Sarabi too. We've already heard Mufasa's voice in the previews, and they sound like 'Ghost' appearances to me, after all, he IS dead.... Rafiki appears in the previews too, and I suspect his role will be as in TLK - a plot facilitator rather than a major part. Zazu can be seen in a number of places, though always flying. I'd love to see Vitani and Nuka, and better yet hear them say something, and it's possible we'll get that chance in future previews/trailors. There are bound to be more, especuilly on videos. Disney won't just keep on showing the same ones over and over again. What's the next Disney video release? Look out for trailors on other less-obviously Disney videos too (Miramax, Touchstone et al) especially if Disney is targeting the parents who are actually going to be paying for the videos.

Yes, reviews are not always right, but they are not just about matters of taste. There are objective elements to reviewing, its not just about subjective opinion. I do not necessarily agree or disagree with the opinions stated in that review, I merely reported it. YES! Absolutely! Actors and actresses are hired for their ability to portray characters other than themselves, that the *whole* point of acting! Have you actually met Lacey in person? How do you know what she *really* sounds like, when not 'on stage'? I suspect she would sound at least a little different from her performances, maybe not much, but she, not any other actors or actresses, IS NOT the character she portrays. Disney didn't hire Jeremy Irons to play Jeremy Irons, he was hired to play Scar, and to create that character for the film - though you would hear hints of Scar in Irons' own voice, you would have to admit that they, Irons and Scar, sound significantly different. So my questions still stand, if Young Kiara is NOT voiced by Lacey Chabert; who DOES voice her? Come on all you folks, if you know who it isn't then who IS IT? Also who does Lacey voice or sing for? Maybe she does sing for Kiara; if so what is her singing pedigree? I think we will get to hear Kiara singing, that's par for the course for Disney. If Lacey can't sing well, then who might sing for young Kiara, what about Neve Campbell - can she sing? If not who might for Adult Kiara. Stop just saying, "nope - can't be" and start thinking and making constructive comment.
Kovu clearly has a scar on the litho envelope, but that's the only place. Either he gets it late in the film, as has been suggested, or it really is simply an error. Personally, I think it's a screw up; simple as that.

I saw the bean bag pics of Vitani and Nuka, and the fan art of Vitani. They were great, but Vitani looks like a boy!!

I've had a dig around, but cannot confirm the involvement of Josh Whedon in SP. On the other hand it doesn't make much sense for him to have written some song lyrics, he's a screenplay writer and lyrics may well not be his thing. He appears not to be all that good a screenplay wright either:

Jeunet's direction was the least of "Resurrection's" complications. Screenwriter Josh Whedon's script was ridiculous, leaving
competent actors like Weaver and Ryder with paper-thin characters. Maybe Whedon does not have to worry about character
development on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," the Warner Brothers program of which he is executive producer and director, but
he should have been a little more prepared for "Resurrection." Also, the young author's only prior screenwriting attempt was
Disney's "Toy Story." One has to wonder how such an inexperienced writer was given a monumental assignment like
"Resurrection."
As for Whedon's characters, Weaver's Ripley is more comparable to the Terminator than her prior "Alien" roles. Weaver
overacts in her attempt to portray Ripley's new alien attitude, a situation the actress should never have been put into in the first
place. The performance is especially disappointing considering Weaver was nominated for an Academy Award for "Aliens," a
role that proved women could carry action films just as well as men.
A waifish Ryder does little to assist Weaver on this sinking ship. Full of her typical reactionary shots, Ryder's character is a
bystander in this action flick. A victim of Whedon's ridiculous screenplay, Call seems to serve little purpose in the film until the
conclusion, which comes too fast and kills the limited amount of suspense with rushed sequences.
That seems about par for the course. We'll have to wait and see...
Kovu has a scar eh? I can't see anything like a scar in that screengrab, I think you are looking to hard FOR something, rather than AT something; sorry.
As for Lacey Chabert not providing the voice of young Kiara - that is possible. If not, then a) who is the voice? b) What role is Lacey playing (she says its a daughter of Simba)? c) She's an actress (I think) and if she's anything like a good one she won't necessarily sound like herself or any of the other characters she's portrayed. I know all characters Sean Connery plays all sound like Sean Connery, but really that is NOT what acting is all about!

There was an article on Fox's upcoming animated feature, "Dracula" which is in development at a company called Mutant Enemy, headed by a guy named Josh Whedon. Whedon, the article says, wrote a song for The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. He contributed to the screenplay of "Toy Story" which hopefully is a good sign for SP: Toy Story was very popular in the US, earning over $200 million in theaters!

And here's my speculation :)
I know what you all are gonna say "Then how come he doesn't have a scar when he and Kiara are on top of that hill when she roars, scaring the birds?" :) Well, my speculation is is that when Kiara and Kovu return to the Pridelands, Simba and Nala discover them, and Simba possibly bans him from seeing Kiara, and Kovu returns to the OUtlands, where he tells Zira his destiny is to avenge Scar, he returns to the Pridelands, and tries to fight Simba, and as they are fighting, Simba gives Kovu the scar, you can look at the pic, it looks like he's in pain, then they both roar at each other, and possibly fight. Just my speculation :)

It would be a major error for Disney to release a litho of Kovu with a scar unintentionally. I'm sure it wasn't a mistake, and Kovu gets a scar from some kind of animal during the movie.
I just read that there are some SP Applause items out-----PVC straws, and small bean bags----as well as a board game (hopping over crocodiles or something). Keep your eyes open. I'm sure there will be a great deal of merchandise soon.

Um, I was watching the Laverne and Shirley (Schlemeil! Schlemeizel!) Marathon on Nick at Nite, hosted by the guys who played Lenny and Squiggy. They had this thing called, "The Circle Of Sucess". At the credits of each show, they would show their mess-ups or "Bloopers". The guy that played Lenny said, "The Circle Of LIfe-oops. Oh good, The Lion King." Just a tidbit of info.
Oh, I havent been to The Disney Store in a while, so I havent been able to see the framed SP pic w/ Vitani on it. If someone buys it who owns a scanner; I know the person who bought it and told us about it (I have such a cruddy memory, I cant remember who it was!!) said they didnt have a scanner, so maybe they could send it to Brian or someone for their SP section for us to see? Wow that was one long run on sentence...
Shenzi, my Sarafina story is already longer than my Sarabi story, and it's only halfway done. My Sarabi story only took me a few hours so it's not really high quality. My story, "Sarafina's Mate" is going to take longer to get on the net too, because I'm working on two other stories at the moment too, Calypso Chronicles Book Three, "Beyond This Kingdom" which I must admit I'm having problems with. Last year I did a story on Dodger's (Oliver and Company)life, and I am currently changing it, modifying, and morphing it into script form with original songs by me, myself, and I. So "Sarafina's Mate" might not be up someplace until the middle or the end of the month.

Nala, I have no idea where this idea came up about Nuka and Kiara being betrothed. It doesn't make sense at all. Why would there be an arrangement for Nuka and Kiara to be a couple when Simba has forbidden any contact with the Outsiders (of which Nuka is one)? Somehow I doubt that Zira has ANY plans for Nuka.

Soo, let me get this straight. On that fram, Vintani is with Kovu, and she has a bowl haircut, ya mean, like human hair? What if...what if, Kiara was betrothed to Nunka, and Vintani was to Kovu, like whoever said (I'm giving credit to you, I just forgot the name, sorry!) and Zira want's them to be the king and queen of the pride lands, but Kiara gets in the way, (maybe Kovu really doesn't like Vintani) and Kovu falls for her. As Simba, Nala, Kiara and the rest of the Pride feasted on the last remains of the Pooh losers...they spot a two legged creature running to them screaming something "Hey!!! How DARE you kill the Pooh characters!!! Pooh Rules!!! You guys SUCK!!! Pooh was MUCh better than YOU GUYS!!" The creature, soon identified as a human, said as he/she ran up to them. Very interesting that Vitani is on the frame. She and Kovu look good on there. I wonder why Nuka wasn't put on there as well. It is interesting because it seems like the frame is presenting them as a couple (Kiara is not next to either of them).
Yeah, I know it is just speculating, but I really think Zira wants Vitani and Kovu to be the queen and king of the pridelands, and Kiara gets in the way. Just my guess-----I'm probably wrong. I seriously don't think that there will be a Nuka/Kiara connection!
The Disney Store was also selling the Pumbaa and Kiara puppets for $10 each. They look pretty nice, but my hand wouldn't fit in them, so I didn't think I needed them (I'm 22 so I'm sure that they weren't meant for me anyway). If you have small hands, they'll be great for you.
Just a little info: they also had bean bags of Gurgi and Hen Wen (from the Black Cauldron) which sold out instantly; and also Robin Hood and Hamm.

I just looked at the litho and the envelope and I must say they look pretty good- except one thing- What's up with Simba????!!! They seem to be screwing up with Simba a lot in the misc stuff..i guess he looks better in the framed pic everyone's been talking about, (I havent seen it yet, I just got back from Ocean City)

I'm back. Boy, did I miss a lot!!! I just sat here for a half hour reading everything!! I havent looked at the lithographs yet but I'm getting ready to...
On the subject of Vitani, I have a strange feeling that I'm going to like her. Some were complaining about her funny "Bowl" haircut, but I think it makes her look unique and cute.
On the frame that was described, all the good characters seemed to be in there with Vitani...maybe this makes Vitani a good lioness? It doesnt really make a difference to me because I think I'll like her.
Maybe she likes Kovu but maybe she gives up and Kiara gets Kovu. (That sounds like owning someone but I don't know any other way to put it..)
I'm so sick of Pooh at this point I'm not making any more "Kill Pooh And Friends" stories or even mentioning him anymore. But just one last thing about Pooh..... I was in Ocean City, MD. and I was on the Boardwalk, near the games. Now, there used to be a game where Sylvester the cat popped in and out of trashcans and you had to try and hit him...I'll give you three guesses on what replaced Sylvester.....
