Adilman, Sid. 1994. Lion King rules Canadian box office. Toronto Star, 19 August B3. The following information is taken from the above titled article: "Canadians coast to coast packed movie houses this wash-and-dry summer, spending most of their cinema-going money on family far and thrillers. Collectively, we paid at least $15.7 million to make _The Lion King_ roar the loudest at the box office-the biggest hit of the summer, and of the year so far. _Speed_ raced to thrilling second place, taking in at least $11.2 million. _True Lies_ piled into third with at least $9.7 million. As with _The Lion King_, families also came out in huge numbers paying at least $8.2 million to see _The Mask_ and at least $7.7 million for _Forrest Gump_, the surprise summer attraction. Thrillers _The Client_ followed with at least #3.3 million and _Clear and Present Danger_, at least $2.3 million. By mid-summer, _The Flintstones_, which got the jump on summer, had petered out but not before frolicking in Canada for a total box office of about $9.5 million. By the end of this month, _The Lion King_ will disappear from the movie theatres across Canada and the United States but will return to big screens for Thanksgiving. In a clever and unprecedented movie, the Disney folks have decided to pull their worldwide animated blockbuster because kids start school-and bring it back when they next have a long weekend free from classrooms. We also loved new Disney animated fare at home this summer. Stay-at- homes rented or bought one family movie most: _The Return of Jafar_, the sequel to _Aladdin_, released directly on home video."
