Can You Feel the Love Tonight

He should've seen it coming.

Characters

Nala Pumbaa Simba Timon

(Simba and Nala our rubbing their heads together affectionately. Timon and Pumbaa are watching behind some bushes.)

(Heavy sigh) I tell ya, Pumbaa, this stinks.

Oh...sorry.

Not you! Them! Him. Her. Alone...

What's wrong with that?

(Timon begins singing.)

I can see what's happening.

What?

And they don't have a clue!

Who?

They'll fall in love, and here's the bottom line: our trio's down to two.

Oh.

(French accent) Ze sweet caress of twilight. (Normal voice) There's magic everywhere. And with all this romantic atmosphere, disaster's in the air!

(Shows Simba and Nala in front of a waterfall.)

Chorus: Can you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening brings. The world, for once, in perfect harmony with all its living things.

(After walking and taking in each other's movements, they stop by a pond to drink some water.)

(Thinking) So many things to tell her. But how to make her see. The truth about my past? Impossible! She'd turn away from me.

(Thinking) He's holding back, he's hiding. But what, I can't decide. Why won't he be the king I know he is? The king I see inside?

(Simba looks at Nala with a smile and runs off the screen to grab a grapevine with his teeth. He swings across the pond and splashes into it. Nala looks over the water. Simba abruptly emerges and pulls her playfully into the water with him. Nala comes out with a gasp, chilled. Simba pops his head out of the water. Nala smiles and pushes him back down. The scene switches, showing them running across a meadow, breaking up a flock of birds. They run into some woods and begin tussling. They roll down a hill and land with Simba on top of Nala. Simba laughs. Nala gives him a gentle kiss. He is startled, looking at her. She gives him an affectionate look, and Simba smiles back. The two rub heads together.)

Chorus: Can you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening brings. The world, for once, in perfect harmony with all its living things.

Chorus: Can you feel the love tonight? You needn't look too far. Stealing through the night's uncertainties. Love is where they are.

(Switches to a tearful Timon and Pumbaa.)

And if he falls in love tonight (Pumbaa sniffs), it can be assumed. (Hugs Timon, almost crying.)

His carefree days with us are history.

In short, our pal is doomed.

(Timon and Pumbaa emit sad cries, tears gushing from their eyes.)
