Summer pages: Two-legs, walking eastward. Guardian wolf found the trail
and followed it.
Bawn: Northern Forest(#3012RA)
Dark and forboding woods stretch in all directions but the north, the
trees close together as if they were soldiers closing ranks against the
enemy of Man. The trees here are tall, and close off all light from
above, like they were pillars in some vast cathedral to Nature.
Songsbirds flit between the branches and the snuffling of small animals
comes from the brush if one listens close enough. The busy interstate
highway to the north, though, drowns out most of the subtler sounds in
that direction.
The northern edge of the bawn is marked here by the unavoidable length
of Interstate 90. Near it, the sounds of traffic drown out the more
natural sounds of water and wildlife. In all other directions, the
traffic noise recedes into the background.
Summer bites her lip. "Guess there's climbing I can drive to," she
mutters darkly. Her gaze returns to him. "How safe is the park?"
Rain-Falls-Up moves silently and easily through the forest, slipping
between the trees like a red ghost... an unseen red ghost, blessed with
a ragabash's skill of nondetection.
"Wolf Park?" Tobin asks, looking thoughtful. "That would be safest, I
think, because that is where Reforged has retreated to. They're there
to guard our wolf kin, and are a powerful pack." Being in homid, the
Fang does not detect the approach of the Ragabash at all.
Sharp, aquiline features dominate this pale young man's face,
belying a pure blood-line many generations old. The occassional fine
white scar can be seen on his face and hands if the light falls on it
just right. One day, he will be very handsome, but now it looks like
all the pieces don't fit quite right together. This situation might be
helped if he smiled more, but smiling doesn't seem to be something
Tobin is much interested in. Lank, shoulder-length black hair is tied
up with a piece of black scallop-edged ribbon, but a few locks have
broken out to frame clear blue eyes which are as sharp as the rest of
his face. He looks to be about 18 now, though in truth he's a little
older than that, and has gained some height and weight in the last two
years, now standing at about five-foot seven and weighing perhaps 130
pounds. His added height, even just a few inches, only adds to the
presence he brings to a room. He has a wiry build that's often held in
a proud, straightbacked posture. More and more often he seems sure of
himself and proud, carrying himself with a dignity not normally found
in people his age.
He's dressed like a wannabe Victorian goth, except that he wears
it so well he may as well have stepped out of that time period. He
wears a ruffly white poet shirt under a sweeping cinch-waisted black
opera coat, which is worn open. The shirt is tucked into a pair of
medium-tight black pants, which are slightly shiny. The only thing
throwing off the look is a pair of worn hiking boots on his feet.
Lupine stealth from one quarter may be either aided or completely
obliterated by the noisy racing of two Fianna, in lupe. The packmates
are having a race, it seems, and making no effort to disguise their
passage.
Summer nods minutely. "I'll keep to there, then. They have some good
climbing down south." She swallows. "Is... eveything okay, otherwise? I
mean..."
Summer trails off, glancing toward the sudden noise. She gives a quick
look about, scanning the trees nearby for good places to climb.
Distraction and misdirection is a scout's best friend. Pausing, Rain
Falls Up scents the air, ears uplifted. Then she slips forward, moving
closer from a different direction and remaining, for now, under cover.
Fianally as they reach the Northern Bawn, Sheeaghan chortles with a
chuff right before she leaps to tackle the male that she is racing
against. The action causes the dappled female to go head over tail as
she attempts to tackle her packmate. All in good fun, of course.
Tobin starts at the noise and turns towards the source of it. After a
moment of listening he relaxes and grins a little. "Stag's children
this way come," he says over his shoulder to Summer. "I think you may
be happy to see one, at least."
Summer's name suits her well: the young woman has a fresh
girl-next-door prettiness about her, a clarity of feature and a shine
in her eyes. She looks to be in her late teens. Her complexion is a
little dusky, tanned from long hours in the sun but not as dark as
Latin skin. Long, wavy dark-brown hair falls nearly to her waist when
loose, although she often braids it. Her eyes are an interesting shade
of hazel, bright and intelligent, green mixing with gold and brown in
the irises. Well-defined features, a strong jawline, and a longish nose
fall a little short of beautiful by most standards. She's neither tall
nor short at about 5'6", her build willowy but not quite thin, and she
is clearly a person given to activity and motion.
Slim, scuffed blue jeans descend to a flash of color at her feet: her
trusty burgundy Doc Martens boots. A loose lightweight cotton sweater
of heathery olive-green skims over the curves of her upper body,
falling to just below her waist. She wears no jewelry or makeup.
Startlement crosses the girl's face, and a flicker of hope follows a
moment later. She watches, then, waiting for the tussle to emerge into
view.
Summer pages: different clothes. Jeans, shirt, t-shirt. Big-ass
frame pack on the ground. Ooooo, food!
Long distance to Summer: Rain-Falls-Up perks. Food? What kind of food?
Summer pages: Jerky probably smells good. But it's buried amid human
stuff.
Summer pages: And she's standing right by it, too.
The tumbling mess of fur and limbs gradually has a sound added to it. A
mock-disgusted human roar - Cameron wiping slobber off his face and
grappling with his Tribesmate, trying to get the better of her.
Seemingly unaware of the others, watching.
You could almost pick him for an Aussie before he even opens his
mouth - though the pleasant bass voice, and that wonderful accent
clinches it. Cameron's looking less like a boy than a man, these days,
and where he was lean and rangy a year ago, he's definitely starting to
broaden over the shoulders and fill out. Well proportioned and a neat
6'2" tall. And he moves with the quiet confidence that shows he's
comfortable with it.
His descent's very clear: the lad's pure Scot - probably what
passes for nobility there, even, though his skin's more tanned than the
folks from isles. His hair's blonde, turned towards brown. Short at the
back, with something resembling overgrown bangs at the front, that are
starting to a more sun-bleached blonde. Particularly striking is a
shock of black, which keeps to itself, and appears to go down to the
roots. The hair nearly covers his eyes - but can't conceal those deep,
bright blues. There's nearly always a hint of some secret amusement, in
those eyes; or maybe it's the slight, permanently upwards twists to the
corners of his mouth.
Clothes, today, are the 'classics'. A plain, black t-shirt,
loose-fitting faded denim jeans, and an expensive-looking, but
well-worn black, suede jacket. The assemblage, put together with
decent-sized, brown hiking boots, conspires to make him look even
bigger than he really is. The picture is completed by a gold-plated
crucifix, hanging out over the shirt, and with a good portion of the
gold rubbed off. Most likely never gets taken off.
While Summer and Tobin are distracted by the wrestling Fianna, and
while the Fianna are distracted by, well, each other, the Red Talon
pads out of cover and, sniffing, comes up to Summer's pack.
Sheeaghan noses Cameron, not daring to do anything more rough than
wiggling her muzzle against the other member of her tribe. The dappled
female growls playfully at him, she too, not paying attention to the
others yet.
Tobin grins a little at the playing Fianna, but is quickly distracted
by the sight of Rain-Falls-Up revealing herself. His head snaps around
when he first catches sight of the Red Talon, but once again he quickly
relaxes when he sees who it is. "Pardon me, a moment," he says quietly
to Summer, then shifts to lupus and greets Rain.
Summer glances over her shoulder for a moment, giving the wolf a wary
glance before returning her attention to Cameron and Aubrey.
Rain-Falls-Up looks up from her inspection of the human's pack and
waves her tail at Tobin appeasingly. Padding over, the Red Talon lowers
her head and returns the greetings in a submissive manner. Then her
attention goes, curious, to Summer and Cameron and Sheeaghan.
Cameron's paused only a moment, tilting his head up to the other Fianna
Theurge and growling playfully, "Geddup." He, himself, leaps to his
feet, disentangling himself from the furry creature and looking over to
blink a few times at Summer. A kind of confused smile on his face.
Sheeaghan stumbles up from Cameron and gives her pelt a shake as if she
didn't do anything. She plays the role of the completely innocent. Her
muzzle breaks as she lolls out her tongue and looks to Summer.
Summer looks back at Cameron, one corner of her mouth tugging upward in
a crooked smile. "Hey," she says, a bit quietly.
Cameron reaches up to the back of his head, possibly weeding out twigs
and foliage from his ruffled, short hair, or simply making a nervous
gesture. He grins at Summer a bit stupidly, drawn forward without
really thinking about it.
Rain-Falls-Up tilts her head slightly as she watches this and again
looks questioningly at Calls-Spirits.
Calls-Spirits looks apologetic at Rain-Falls-Up. I have not seen the
Warder lately. I have been busy with patrol. But now that my pack is
here, the Kin will be safe and I can go look for him.
Rain-Falls-Up licks her nose and looks quizzical. The female with the
food is kin? And the others are your pack?
Sheeaghan walks around stiffly and goes to find something to do
momentarily. Her hackles rise at the sight of the unfamiliar wolf but
they soon flatten back against her pelt again no sooner. Her ears perks
forward, looking directly towards her pack Alpha.
Calls-Spirits introduces the strange wolf to his pack. This is
Rain-Falls-Up. A Red Talon new to our sept. There is no Red Talon Elder
for her to talk to chiminage about, so I must go find the Warder. So
saying, he takes off, heading south towards the caern.
Rain-Falls-Up expresses her thanks to the Silver Fang as she goes, then
turns her attention back to the others. Summer's pack gets another
sniff, as well as Summer herself -- though the Talon doesn't come
closer to her -- and then she looks over at the two Fianna and waves
her tail a bit, her body language amiable and submissive to the two
Sept members. She adds that she is a no-moon, which the Fang neglected
to mention.
Sheeaghan ambles up towards the Red Talon, giving her a cheeriful wave
of her tail as it swishes back and forth. She introduces herself as
Sheeaghan, a crescent moon of Fianna and member of the pack of the two
males.
Summer doesn't move--hardly even notices, as she Talon sniffs around
her feet and legs. Her smile tugs upward slightly, though, as Cameron
steps toward her.
Cameron rests his hands on the back of his waist, as he wanders over to
Summer and smiles a little wider. "Long time no see, stranger," he
murmurs vaguely, rocking on his feet.
Rain-Falls-Up seems confused at Sheeaghan's name and paces back a
little, looking uncertain. Circling around, she cranes her neck and
sniffs the air in Cameron's direction.
"Yeah," Summer says quietly. "Those leaves are you."
Fairy-Spirit, the other wolf lightly rumbles. Her head looks over her
shoulder as she watches the Talon circle around her.
"Yeah?" Cameron arches an eyebrow, looking up as if he could see his
own hair. "At least it's easy to keep up with the current season's
fashion..." He looks back to Summer but does have to send a glance to
the unfamiliar lupus. "Hi. Bree... she understand English?"
Rain-Falls-Up sits down and looks upward at the tall male Fianna. She
understands human-speech very well. Is the kin-human your mate?
Summer bites her lip, and studies Cameron's face without
speaking--drinking in the sight after long absence.
Sheeaghan pans her ears forward, directing them towards Cameron and
Summer.
Cameron smiles crookedly, looking sideways at Summer with amusement,
then back to Rain-Falls-Up. "She speaks English very well,
apparently... and she wants to know if you're my mate, Summer." He
looks back to the kinswoman, chewing his lip lightly in thoughtful
expectation. "You can have a chat, if you like, and I could
translate...?" An eye to Rain, as if for permission.
Summer's smile holds a touch of embarassment, along with tenderness;
she glances over to the wolf, and gives a nod of assent.
Rain-Falls-Up becomes quite still, seeming to consider. Then she
agrees; she is, apparantly, quite interested in the human.
Sheeaghan gives a soft chuffs and walks across the bawn to go inspect
some trees for a few moments.
"Excuse us a minute?" Cam murmurs to the other wolf, and then leans
forward to take Summer's hand, and whisper something in her ear, with a
grin. He murmurs, audibly, after, "She's interested in you. She'd like
to chat if y'wanted."
Summer flushes slightly, and gives a small nod, looking to the Talon.
She drops to a crouch, loose and easy, to be more of a height with the
wolves; one hand is offered, open, in case the animal wants a better
sniff. "Hi," she says, a bit awkwardly. "I'm Summer. Fianna kin."
Rain-Falls-Up gets up and approaches delicately, one step at a time.
Her neck and muzzle crane out, just barely touching the extended hand
at first, then moving on to palm and wrist. Very slowly and
deliberately, the lupus works her nose up Summer's arm; she sniffs at
the kinswoman's neck and face, then goes lower.
Summer endures the Talon's examination patiently, though she wrinkles
her nose and laughs a little as the wolf's breath tickles her throat
and the bare part of her chest.
Cameron folds his arms and doesn't speak. Obviously, even though the
lupe is gesturing and sniffing, there's nothing communicated directly.
The Aussie does, however, smile faintly and murmurs, "Hey. That part's
mine."
Sheeaghan pokes around a few trees before she swings her way back
towards the small group. Her ears splay forward on her head as she
observes what is taking place, then the dappled Fianna gives a languish
yawn.
From afar, Summer hms. Human. Forest. Something flowery, nothing
artificial though. Mint. Desire.
Rain-Falls-Up seems to understand laughter; her bushy tail waves
slightly. Her nose moves back upward, touches Summer's ear. Then she
licks it and pads around to the woman's pack. She has a good name. Tell
her. Good name. Good smell.
Summer laughs a little, amused eyes following the wolf's movements.
"Only thing in there that you'd like is some jerky..."
"She likes your name. She says it's a good name. And you have a good
smell, too." Cameron looks over to the yawning packmate, expression
soft and thoughtful.
Sheeaghan plops down on her haunches, curling her plumbed tail around
her hindpaws as she watches and listens silently. Her head cants to the
side as she gives a flick of her ears.
Rain-Falls-Up sits back on her haunches and looks over at Summer. She
knows of this. Dried meat. With plant-bits that have fire in them?
"Is it spicy jerky?" Cam enquires of Summer, regarding Aubrey
thoughtfully still.
Summer nods soberly to the wolf, and paces over to the pack. "You want
some? It's pepper. Organic. No nitrate junk either."
"No chemicals," Cameron translates briefly.
Rain-Falls-Up splays her ears and gives Summer an approving look. She
tells Cameron that he has chosen his mate very well, and that she would
indeed like some of the human's dried fire-meat.
Summer is already digging into the pack, to pull out a ziploc bag and
open it up. The smell of the dried peppery meat wafts out to assail the
wolves. Taking out four or five pieces, the Kinfolk girl lays them on a
rock. "Bree?" She glances over her shoulder to the other one. "Feel
free..." She straightens, taking a piece to chew on and then holding
out the bag to Cam.
Rain-Falls-Up unabashedly snaps one up and, pardon the pun, wolfs it
down with much chewing and dropping-it-on-the-ground and snatching up
and more chewing and dropping and so forth.
Sheeaghan seems to flicker her ears as she chuffs with light amusement.
Then, looking to the Fianna kinswoman, the dappled she-wolf gives a
light shake of her head and sprawls out her paws to lie across the
cooler ground.
Cameron grins at Summer and doesn't translate for Rain. He just takes a
piece of jerky and gnaws on the edge of it.
Summer pages to the room: OK, Rain. The Fianna homid just displayed
more dignity than YOU. :>
You paged the room with 'Pfft. Only homids care about dignity when
eating.'.
Rain-Falls-Up's tail expresses happiness -- she does, quite obviously,
like spiced jerky.
Summer tries not to smile as she chews on her own bit of jerky. "Good
idea," she murmurs. "I was hungry." A glance to Cam, and she asks, "Can
you walk back with me? Or else come camping this weekend, but I think
Fanglet would rather I went on home." She wrinkles her nose.
Sheeaghan looks to Summer and nods her head, her eyes looking up to
Cameron. Tell her there has been a Garou running around eatting
human-flesh, you can see why Calls-Spirits is worried about Summer's
well-being. The lupus then sighs and rolls onto her side.
Rain-Falls-Up's tail abruptly stops wagging. She swallows the last of
her piece of jerky and focusses on Sheeaghan.
Cameron giggles slightly at the kin's labelling, though Aubrey's
reminder leaves him sobering quite quickly. "Someone's out there eating
humans," he states flatly. Then smiles softly. "Course, if they can get
through me, there's no way you'd be safe anyway. I wanna camp."
Rain-Falls-Up utters a low 'huff' noise and offers to help the male
Fianna watch his mate. It is her opinion that the woods is safer than
the stone hives anyway. Safer and _better_.
Alarm flickers into Summer's expression, and peppered jerky is suddenly
less appetizing. She eyes Cam warily. "Eating? As in, Litany-breaking
eating?"
Cameron's smile is gone completely when he nods a few times in
confirmation.
Sheeaghan jerks her muzzle as she looks sideways up at the Fianna
kinswoman. Then to Rain-Falls-Up, the woods are protected but it would
be a good idea for packmate to stay with his mate. I'd do the same for
mine, although he would have silver bullets.
Summer swallows. "Oh." She regards the young man nervously. "On the
bawn? Or... just out in the woods?"
Rain-Falls-Up licks her chops and shifts her weight a bit, alert and
restless.
"City, I think," Cameron murmurs, and looks to Sheeaghan for extra
information.
Hm? The Fianna's ears flicker towards Cameron. Oh, yes. Bone Gnawer
kinsman.
Rain-Falls-Up's ears go askew. She looks confused.
Cameron looks a little confused as well, and blinks at Sheeaghan. "Full
story, please? Seems everyone here's confused, now."
My mate is a Bone Gnawer, she growls lowly. He keeps a gun and some
silver bullets in case. Sheeaghan isn't always there to protect him and
the city has more problems with leeches.
The Red Talon tips her head to one side, then sits down. She looks at
the female Fianna. The human was asking about the man-eater,
Spirit-of-Small-Humans-With-Wings. Is the man-eater in the woods or in
the stone hives of men?
Cameron nods in confirmation to Rain, watching Sheeaghan thoughtfully.
Sheeaghan rolls back up to a sitting position as she looks towards
Rain. From the last report, in the city, but the man-eater could be
near wood too.
Cameron looks to Summer and confirms - in /English/ - "/Probably/ city.
/Maybe/ woods. We'd probably be safer out here."
Rain-Falls-Up indicates that she understands now, and she looks over
and up at Cameron. Her body languages indicates agreement.
Summer nods to Cameron. "You want to hike up, then? We better go, we're
gonna be stumbling over rocks in the dark."
Sheeaghan remains were she is as she looks to Cameron and Summer. She
tells Cameron that she hopes that the pair have a nice campout in the
woods.
Rain-Falls-Up's muzzle drops open, tongue lolling and ears playing in
an amused and knowing way.
Cameron blushes a little and scolds the two wolves, "Hush. Of course
we'll have a nice time. We love nature." He clears his throat a little,
looking sideways at Summer apologetically.
Summer glances eastward through the dimming light. "Yeah. There's a
traverse I wanna try, that I found."
Rain-Falls-Up continues to look amused. Homids!
Sheeaghan looks to Rain-Falls-Up, then to her packmate. The Red Talon
has no choice but to love nature. She lolls her tongue out of her maw,
looking at the other Fianna Theurge. Her tail flicks hyperly, she takes
that as a very nice time out in the -woods-. What a wonderful place to
go out camping with your mate, no?
Cameron sticks his thumbs in his pocket and scuffs one foot in the
ground. "Well, if anyone wants to tag along and Summer's fine with it,
so am I." He looks to Summer and adds, "Bree says it's a nice place to
go camping with one's mate, you see."
Rain-Falls-Up considers this. Would you not want to be alone with her,
Tall One? She was quite certain that humans considered it to be proper
to be alone for mating.
Sheeaghan can barely contain her posture as she looks across to
Rain-Falls-Up as she catches the lupus' comment. The Fianna bares her
fangs in a human-like grin. Her tail *thapthapthaps* against the ground.
Rain-Falls-Up, glancing at Sheeaghan, flattens her ears and edges away,
looking confused at the mixture of human and lupine body language.
"It's okay," Summer says quietly--apparently to the Talon. "I think
she's just joking with you. Cam?" Rolling her shoulders, she settles
the pack a little better and belts it at her hips.
Sheeaghan sobers her expression, her ears flickering forward before she
glances at the Talon.
"Bree is," Cam replies, reddening furiously in a blush and attempting a
smile for Rain-Falls-Up. "Uhm. Rains-falls-up was willing to go along,
but thought it was proper for humans to be alone while they mated.
Ahem. And yes, she's quite right."
Rain-Falls-Up settles somewhat and gives herself a good brisk shake for
good measure. She huffs and will leave you, then. The fire-meat is good
but she would like fresh meat, too.
Summer raises an eyebrow, looking over to Cameron with a glint of
amusement. "That's a good color on you," she says, and then she sets
out eastward, picking her way through the woods.
Sheeaghan stumbles up to her four-paws as she looks towards Summer and
Cameron. He can't get back at me because his mate is around-- she
growls towards Rains-Falls-Up, although she means to be heard.
Rain-Falls-Up cocks her head and looks quizzically at Sheeaghan. She is
confused again.
Cameron sighs and watches Aubrey for a while before settling on poking
his tongue at her, in punishment. "Nice meeting y'Rain. They call me
Stands-the-Charge, if it helps with y'pronounciation." He starts to
move after Summer, to try and catch up.
Rain-Falls-Up gives her farewells to Stands the Charge, and to
Spirit-of-Small-Humans-With-Wings, too. Then she slips off into the
woods in another direction.
Sheeaghan chuffs to Cameron and mentions that she means well and was
only playing. Her tail flicks as she turns towards the lupus Red Talon.
May Gaia keep you safe, the Theurge mentions.
Cameron winks over his shoulder at Sheeaghan, the way he always does.
No harm done, indeed.
