Thank you all for the kind comments I received on my last poem. Another late night, another inspiration. Here it is.....I don't think it's as good as the last one, but it's got a more original topic, I may do a better poem with this topic later. A King Dies My time is close at hand, Aiheu unknots all my earthly ties. My pride's tears fall upon the sand They cry as their King dies. I gasp my one last breath, and all the pain is gone. I feel the peacefulness of death And the spirit cloak I don. As I walk through the silver trees of heavens bayou. Each shining sapling bends to it's knees as my subjects used to do. I tread up a shining corridor, Each wall lined with past kings. as I pass each gives a mighty roar Welcoming me to their relm far above mortal things. I walk through two massive marble gates I beheld a light, shining of every possible hue. It sought out all my fears and hates, And in my heart I knew its name, The Life Giver Aiheu. I took my place beside him on a throne >From which I could see my past kingdom from afar, With an inner light me and the seat shone, And with joy, I realized I was a star. ~~~~ * ~~~~ Comments welcome!
