I don't know what's gotten into me, another fic!:) Well, actually I'm not sure you can call this a fan fic, I don't know if it's TLK related to you but I got the inspiration while listening to "This Land". It's not a poem, it's not a song and it's not really a fan fic. It's more about moods and feelings. You'll find out when you read it, I guess. BTW, better listen to some TLK instrumental or song while reading this, like "This Land", "Shadowland/Lea Halalela", "Under the stars" or "Lala". I think it suits to the mood.:) Enough talk, move on! Stars, millions of them. When all rush is gone and you can finally relax in the coolness of the night. You let go of your thoughts and stress and lay down on the soft grass. You stare into the space. You feel you're so far away...from the normal world. You're at home again, your Pride Lands home. You sigh deeply and watch the sky darkening, turning into dark blue and finally black, shadowing the land and the only lights you see anywhere near are the endless lines of stars. The great kings of the past...Near you. You feel tired but you don't want to sleep, just to relax in the beautiful night. Crickets chirping somewhere, it's the only sound you hear. Normally it would be scary to lie down all alone like this, there might be a predator near you, but now it's the stillness of the moment that keeps you here. The kings are there to keep you safe and to guide you. You feel your tense finally fading away, now you're totally relaxed. Pay attention, this is the moment when the shooting stars come out to play. You breath silently, trying not to disturb the silence, waiting... You don't exactly know what you're waiting for but you know it's out there. And you're going to see, hear, smell and feel it tonight. You still stare in the open space, full of stars. Each special in their own way, each different, kinda like snowflakes. Fatshe leso, lea halalela. Now you feel something. You've felt it many times before but still you can't quite remember what it is. It's comforting and saddening at the same time, you like it and still don't exactly know why. Ndiyani khumbula. Seize the moment. The magic hour when the world stands still for a minute, when you can laugh at your worries, watch the stars and find out every answer to every question in the world. When you only live for one minute, when you don't want to be anywhere else, when you hear the song of the ancestors before your time and hear they call your name. You don't feel your body anymore, that's left behind. You know you're not in this world anymore and you still feel trapped. The one moment when your spirit is jumping up and down inside your body to get out and disappear in the night. You hear the roar inside you grow into a song you've heard only in your dreams, a song with no lyrics and no melody, just pure flames of your feelings. A rhythm. A beat. Now you see what you've been waiting to see all night, all your life. We sangoma ngi velelwe, we baba ngi velelwe. Shooting stars, hundreds of them. No, thousands. All around you, it's like you're floating in the air with your feet still on the ground. You hear sounds you know you've heard before, see colors and lights that are familiar to you and feel things you've felt many times before, but you can't remember where. The sky is full of lights, a star show just for you. It's a secret no-one else knows about. You chuckle. You've known about it all your life, you just never remember it after the show's over. A fire inside you has grown and now it bursts to flame with full force. It takes all your energy but you don't want it ever to stop. Busa le lizwe. Busa le lizwe. Rule this land. Rule this land. The rhythm takes you with it, high above the ground. You're flying in the air, invincible. You're full of light and life, you found the truth out again. You're a shooting star. You've always been one, among the others. The others never knew it and you never understood it. It was just a feeling inside you, longing to get out. You release it every time you come here, in your real home, the Pride Lands. Flying, speed faster than light, you're a light yourself among the kings of the past. Now you know, now you feel. Uzo libusa le lizwe, uli buse kahle. It's over. One short moment in time, nothing more. Was it real? If it was, how come you can't remember all of it? Only bits and pieces, and they're fading quickly too. You're look tired, maybe you should sleep. Come on, lie down, it's soft and comfortable here. Can you remember your dream? It must have been wonderful, you looked so happy while sleeping. I watched you. Look at the stars. Millions of them... Fatshe leso, lea halalela. You're one of them.
