How I made my Fox fursuit
The suit
The original pattern for the suit came from my overalls that I use at college. I simply plotted each part of the overalls onto the back of the fur fabric and cut it all out. Now I was left with the task of hand stitching it all together. Once I had completed this big ginger suit I slowly replaced the forearms and lower legs with black fur. Then I decided a shape for the white patch at the front, cut it out and then stitched that into place.
Oh; not to forget the tail: - That was just a cone of ginger fur and a shorter cone of white fur sewn together.
To me this was an absolute nightmare, well I’ve made fursuits before but this was my first attempt at a head. I can’t really explain how I made it; I suppose I just threw it together. Although I can say this: - My guard dog plushy was a great help.
The main reason that I made the suit is that I couldn’t possibly afford to buy one. So I set to work with a needle and thread, and this is the result.
In all I used 2 metres of ginger fur, 1m of black fur and half a metre of white fur, Oh; and 100 metres of ginger thread.
Not to mention the two sewing needles and a plaster (j/k).
The suit took under 2 months to build and cost around £15 for all the materials.
Now that I‘ve made this suit nothing can stop me. I am currently planning to build a wolf fursuit if I can get the right plush.
But that has yet to be, I’ll keep you posted.
I find making fursuits and stuff very addictive; I recommend it to any one. Whether you just make a furry tail to tie onto your belt loops or a full fursuit that could keep you warm in the Antarctica. Try it you’ll be surprised what you can make.
