Episode 12: The Great Destroyer's Desperation

The year is After Colony 195. John had just rejected Lara and ran away on his mobile suit. He left to find the new Antarctica Headquarters and attack it.

Setting- OZ Naval Base

The new shipments to the new Antarctica Headquarters preceded smoothly at the submarine loading bay.

Lady Deux: How are the transports going?
Submarine Captain: Great now that the Gundams aren't interfering.
Lady Deux: Perfect...
Submarine Captain: But I'm still worried...
Lady Deux: What is there to worry about?
Submarine Captain: What if the Gundams attack again mysteriously?
Lady Deux: In that case, I'll just have to deploy the Pisces and Cancers all around the base.
Submarine Captain: Sounds like a plan.
Lady Deux: Yes... it definitely is...

Setting- Inside the Wing Gundam

After John left, he landed again hidden in the mountains at the southern tip of South America. He knew it was the closest to the Antarctica Base and from there he could track cargo ships that revealed the Headquarters' location. John looked through top secret information and looked for suitable OZ targets. The computer instantly highlighted one.

John: Hmm... New shipment to the base through sub, huh? They think they can outsmart me by going under the water rather than on top of it... Hehehe...

The mountain in which the Wing Gundam was hiding, burst open and the Wing Gundam launched itself into the sky. John corrected his direction towards the base and blasted off looking for it.

Setting- Antarctica OZ Headquarters

Lady Deux: The new headquarters has finally been established.
Treize: Thank you, Lady, for helping out.
Lady Deux: You're welcome, your excellency.
Radar Operator: A flying object is approaching us fast.
Lady Deux: What is it?
Radar Operator: It appears to be Zero One.
Lady Deux: Blast it!
Treize: I will put you personally in charge of this one, Lady.
Lady Deux: Right! You got it, your excellency!
Treize: Good... I'll be in my quarters...
Lady Deux: Ok. Where is it?
Radar Operator: In sector six.
Lady Deux: There is nothing in sector six, except for a secret naval docking bay. Why?
Radar Operator: It appears to be following our transport sub.
Lady Deux: The new shipments?
Radar Operator: I believe so.
Lady Deux: Then I guess I'll have to trick it.
Radar Operator: How do you trick a Gundam pilot?
Lady Deux: Easy. Watch and learn... DEPLOY THE ARIES!
Radar Operator: Why Colonel?
Lady Deux: We'll shoot it into the waters.
Radar Operator: What will that do? The Gundam can still move in the water.
Lady Deux: Its mobility will be severly decreased and would be an easy target for our Cancers and Pisces.
Radar Operator: Excellent...
Lady Deux: Yes, excellent, indeed...

Setting- In the "Antarctica Ocean"

John was flying above the Antarctic Ocean, when his radar beeped, indicating the presence of Aries mobile suits.

John: Where did they go? They must of went behind the cloud.

Suddenly the Aries appeared behind the Wing Gundam and launched missiles at its back. Before the Wing Gundam fell into the ocean it transformed into mobile suit mode and charged right back at the Aries.

Setting- Antarctica OZ Headquarters

Radar Operator: It has failed...
Lady Deux: What has failed?
Radar Operator: Your master plan.
Lady Deux: No way... How?
Radar Operator: It seems we underestimated the Gundam's power.
Lady Deux: And?
Radar Operator: It was hit by missiles and transformed.
Lady Deux: So what is it doing right now?
Radar Operator: It is attacking the Aries.
Lady Deux: Damn it! Deploy more Aries.
Radar Operator: You think that would help?
Lady Deux: Of course it would.
Radar Operator: But the Gundam will destroy them like the others. What is the point of sacrificing so many lives for this pointless bloodshed?
Lady Deux: Oh well, too bad for them.
Radar Operator: You have no mercy or pity for those soldiers.
Lady Deux: Of course I don't. If they fought better, they would survive. It is that simple.
Radar Operator: But that is cruel.
Lady Deux: WARS ARE CRUEL! DO NOT QUESTION THE AUTHORITY OF HIS EXCELLENCY!!!
Radar Operator: What will sending more Aries do?
Lady Deux: It will make him more busy.

Setting- In the Southern Pacific Ocean

John figured his buster rifle would be no use in this fast combat and unleashed his beam sabre. Instantly the sky was full of explosions, as John tore threw Aries after Aries, until finally a Pisces fired its missiles, knocking the Wing Gundam out of the sky. The splash of the mobile suit indicated its entrance into the freezing water.

Setting- Antarctica OZ Headquarters

Radar Operator: Wahoo!
Lady Deux: What are Earth are you so excited about?
Radar Operator: The Gundam is in the water!
Lady Deux: So?
Radar Operator: Your plan, your beautiful plan worked.
Lady Deux: And as you have warned me, the Gundam can still propel itself in the water.
Radar Operator: But not as well. And it will be a vulnerable target for torpedoes.
Lady Deux: Good idea, why thank you. His excellency will be pleased. What are you doing as a radar operator, you should be promoted to much higher ranks.
Radar Operator: Thanks, but no thanks.
Lady Deux: Huh?
Radar Operator: You see, I like this job.
Lady Deux: Oh, fine then, FIRE THE TORPEDOES!

Setting- Beneath the Southern Pacific Ocean

As John tried to manuever in the freezing waters, but his sensors were beeping like crazy. In the cockpit, John could see the waters littered with Pisces and Cancers.

John: Oh shit!

Setting- In An Apartment

The four Gundam pilots were fiddling around the apartment in boredom trying to find something to do. As the others were playing with their "toys," Lara was thinking about John. She was pulling off the petals of a flower.

Lara: He loves too... He loves me not... He loves me too... He loves me not... He loves me too...

By that time she had finished peeling all the petals.

Lara: He loves me not... Crap... Stupid flower, it doesn't work.

Lara started to daydream about their battle trying to cut off the supply routes to the new Antartica OZ Base. Then she started to think about what happened last night. She kept on switching back and forth between the two daydreams that seemed totally different from each other.

Lara: (thinking) What the heck is my conscience trying to tell me? Hmm...

Lara continues to think for a while until you finally came up with it.

Lara: (thinking) I know! John went to attack the new Antarctica OZ Base.

Suddenly she jumped up and was about to run to the door, when...

Tom: Now what do you think you're doing?
Britney: Going out?
Wufei: Yeah, where are you going?
Lara: To find John.
Tom: How do you know where he is?
Lara: I just know...
Britney: Oh really... You expect me to believe that!
Lara: I just have this feeling he is attacking the new Antarctica OZ Base.
Tom: Really?
Britney: Are you planning on going alone?
Lara: Yeah.
Britney: You're going to get hurt!
Tom: Let someone accompany you.
Wufei: Yeah, I don't like the idea of you with that John dude.
Lara: That's ok. I'll just go on my own...
Wufei: No! Take me with you! (grabs onto Lara's leg) Lara: Ew! (tries to shake Wufei off her leg, he wouldn't let go) Jerk! (slaps Wufei off when he looks under Lara's dress) Pervert! Wufei: Hey! What was that for? I'm trying to help you by coming with you.
Lara: I don't need your help! (kicks Wufei in the groin)
Wufei: Oof! Ow ow ow ow ow... Lara: See ya! I'm on my way.
Tom: Ok fine...
Britney: Be careful.
Lara: I will... I promise I'll be back, hopefully with John.
Wufei: NNNNNOOOOO!!!!!

Lara runs out and takes her Deathscythe towards the new Antartica OZ Base...

Setting- Beneath the Southern Pacific Ocean

John was being battered and pounded by the many torpedoes that struck the Wing Gundam, but that wasn't enough to penetrate the virtually indestructible gundanium alloy it was made of, and John retialated with a blast from the mighty buster rifle. The huge beam shot through dozens of Cancers and Pisces mobile suits, causing explosion after explosion that lit up even the dark and gloomy ocean bottom. The force of the explosions caused the sand on the ocean floor to stir up and covered the battlefield. Two more shots fired from inside the dust cloud, each eliminated more amphibious mobile suits.

John: Darn... out of energy for any more shots. Time for the close combat.

John chucked his useless buster rifle out of the dust cloud and pulled out his beam sabre. His rotating buster rifle went flying and hit several mobile suits causing them too to spin out of control, eventually crashing into each other. Before the dust cloud could settle to reveal the Wing Gundam, John burst out of the dust cloud and started attacking a nearby Cancer. Its sliced through the Cancer with his beam sabre. He flew from mobile suit to mobile suit destroying them with a flick of the wrist. His boosters generated a heat so intense it boiled the water almost instantaneously.

Pisces Pilot: Holy cow! Did you see that? His beam sabre becomes so hot underwater that it causes bubbles to emerge from the water.
Cancer Pilot: It is hard to imagine that beam sabre can work underwater.
Pisces Pilot: That must be some strong thermonuclear reaction.
Cancer Pilot: Yeah.

John wreak havoc among the underwater mobile suits. The mobile suits try to retialate with more torpedoes, but now that John had gotten used to underwater, the torpedoes have trouble locking on target with something so fast as the Wing Gundam, dodging all the shots.

Setting- Antarctica OZ Headquarters

Radar Operator: A total of 47 of our underwater mobile suits have been wiped out by the Gundam.
Lady Deux: Didn't the torpedoes do the trick?
Radar Operator: At first it did, but it wasn't enough to even damage the Gundam. The gundanium alloy armor is too strong for us and the Gundam fired its buster rifle. It is now attacking them with his beam sabre, he's too fast for the torpedoes to lock on.
Lady Deux: Dang. I shouldn't have listened to you. You're demoted. What are you doing as such a high rank of the headquarter's radar operator. You should be a lowly private scum.
Radar Operator: But at first you said I would be promoted...
Lady Deux: If you want to keep your job then come up with something good.
Radar Operator: Why don't you try restrain the Gundam?
Lady Deux: How?
Radar Operator: Don't Cancers have pincer claws?
Lady Deux: Oh yeah, huh. I'll take back my threat. Sorry... thanks anyway.
Radar Operator: Your welcome. Anything to serve his excellency.
Lady Deux: Yes, to his excellency. He will be pleased and surprised.

Setting- Under the waters off the coast of Antarctica

John's attack increased to include his vulcans and his shield. He smashed mobile suits into smithreens with his shield and pumped them full of lead.

Lady Deux: (on the intercom) Cancers, restrain the Gundam with your pincer claws.
Attack Leader: I'll do it.
Lady Deux: Whatever, just do it. Attack Leader: Take this Gundam scum!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!

The attack leader charged at the all powerful Gundam, but before he could reach it and slash from the Gundam's beam sabre, finished him off for good.

Cancer Pilot: No! Our fearless leader, you'll pay for this. We'll carry out his plans. EVERYONE ATTACK!!!

Many of the Cancers flew at the Gundam and the Gundam couldn't avoid that, with no buster rifle to take them all out, John charged at them with a beam sabre. John destroyed a few, but no enough to prevent them from coming at them.

Cancer Pilot: Oh no you don't. I'll make sure you can't attack us and destroy anymore of us.

The Cancers swarmed around the Gundam and with the pincer claws, held onto the Gundam's parts, restraining it from moving. The Cancers fired its torpedoes into the Gundam, causing even more damage. A second wave of Pisces started to attack the Gundam's frontal parts. John tried to fire his vulcans at them to keep them from coming, but one kamikaze suit made it, transforming into mobile suit mode, and shoving its rotor blades right into the vulcans, deflecting the vulcans, causing the Pisces and the vulcans to explode, rendering them useless.

John: Damn...

After Cancers secured the Gundam, they radioed Headquarters.

Setting- Antarctica OZ Base

Radar Operator: I think the Cancers have successfully captured the Gundam.
Lady Deux: Really?
Communications Officer: Yes, it is true. I have a confirmation message from the Cancers on the intercom.
Lady Deux: Ok.
Cancer Pilot: We have captured the Gundam. What should we do with it?
Lady Deux: Bring the Gundam and the pilot here to headquarters.
Cancer Pilot: Roger that.

Setting- Under the waters off the coast of Antarctica

John was being dragged towards the Headquarters by the Cancers.

John: (thinking) All systems are failing... They're taking me to the Headquarters. I can't let my Gundam or me get captured. Those were my orders.

John slowly reached for the self-destruct button.

John: I'm sorry mother and father, I was unable to avenge your death. I have totally failed... I'm sorry Lara, I guess things didn't work out...

John finally reached the self-destruct button and with little hesitation or regret, John pushed self-destruct button, which lit up the entire Gundam as it powered up for the explosion...

Pisces Pilot: What the heck is happening?
Cancer Pilot: I have no idea...
Pisces Pilot: Well, what ever it is, it sure ain't pretty.
Cancer Pilot: I have a bad feeling about this...

Setting- Above the waters off the coast of Antarctica

Just then Lara finally arrived at the scene where John was and sensors indicated that he was below the water fighting with OZ Cancers and OZ Pisces.

Lara: I found you, John... I have finally found you...

The Gundam slowly disentegrated and the explosion engulfed the rest of the Cancers and Pisces. As Lara was about to plunge into the water after John, the fireball emerged from the waters and hit the Deathscythe. For a while the enormous explosion outshone the sun itself, but it quickly cooled. The waters boiled from the intense heat and smoke hissed from beneath. The explosion itself disturbed the Antarctica base very much as if it was an earthquake.

Setting- Antarctica OZ Base

Slowly people got up from the ground to assess the damage to the base. Not much was damaged, except for the underwater docking bay, everything was fine, except for some fallen stuff and flashing lights.

Lady Deux: What was that?
Radar Operator: It appears Zero One self-detonated.
Lady Deux: It what?
Radar Operator: Self-destructed along with the pilot.
Communications Officer: We've lost all communications with the Cancers and Pisces.
Battle Reviewer: We have heavy casulties and losses. Few survived that explosion.
Radar Operator: Who knew Gundams had so much power?
Communications Officer: We totally underestimated them.
Battle Reviewer: Colonel? Are you there?
Lady Deux: (thinking) That Gundam pilot self-detonated and sacrificed himself just to avoid capture of himself and his Gundam...

Setting- The Coast on the Tip of South America

A dark body in a exosuit climbed out of the waters, it was Lara. She had survived the explosion, but her Gundam Deathscythe didn't. What remains of it, now lies at the bottom of the Southern Pacific Ocean.

Lara: Dang, stupid explosion. I've lost my Gundam and John. I'm surprised I didn't lose my life...

As Lara crawled up to survey the horizon, the ocean waves washed up John's body. It was bloody and he wasn't breathing, had no pulse. Tears from Lara's eyes dripped down upon John's face and she got up.

Lara: (screaming as loud as she could) JOHN, NO!!!!!!!!!!
