RYAN MARKEY STAR TREK: THE BATTLE OF THE LION KING PROLOGUE Historian's note: This story takes place shortly before "Star Trek: Generations" and just after "The Lion King". "Sir," Data said. "We are picking up a hail." "A hail?" Capt. Picard said curiosly. "Let's here it." "Space station 43 to U.S.S. Enterprise, respond please," the speakers said. "Yes, S.S. 43," Picard said, "What seems to be the problem?" "Enterprise, we have picked up a worm hole out near here. It's heading is mock 28470. We'd like for you to check it out for us." "Confermed," Picard said. "We shall be there shortly." "Thank you Enterprise. S.S. 43 out." Picard looked at the screen. "I wonder what the devil that's all about." He shook his head. "Mr. Data, set a course for the worm hole worp three, ingage." 1995, African Pride lands Simba looked at his kingdom. He'd say it would be about 5:00 AM. In the distance, he saw Zazu flying twords him, about 100 feet away. What was Zazu doing up this early? What was the problem? Zazu landed infront of him, and bowed. "Good morning, Zazu," Simba said. "What's wrong?" "Well, sire," he said, "there is a new lion in the Pride Lands, he looks dangerous." "Has he done anything?" "No, not that I know of." "Well, if he does do anything tricky, tell me." "Verygood, sire." Zazu flew away. "There it is, sir," Mr. Data said, looking at the screen. Picard looked at what was before him. "That doesn't look like any wormhole I've ever seen," Riker said. "Yes, I know number one," Picard said. "It looks.... odd." Then, the ship started to shake, and move. "SIR!" Mr. Data said. "We are being pulled forword!" "What?" Picard barely muttered. "How?" "I don't know sir." "Mr. Data, bring us around and ingage at...." then, everything went dark. Picard awoke, and saw Mr. Data still awake, pushing buttons. "Mr. Data, where are we?" "No sir," Data awnsered. "When are we?" Zazu came flying fast twords Simba. Now it was 9:00AM. Zazu landed infront of Simba and yelled, "SIRE! SIRE!" "Zazu," Simba replied, "what's wrong?" "SIRE! The lion is going twords the elephant graveyard!" "The year," Data said, "is 1995." "How is this," Picard asked. "How wher we pulled in?" "I belive I can awnser that for you," a man who apeared apeared out of nowhere said. "Q," Picard said. "That's rite, Jean-Luc," Q said. "It is me, and I have a good reason to be here." "What's that?" Picard asked, angrily. "On this planet, there is a species of animal named "lions", who, in the year of 1995, became extinct." "Your point being?" Picard asked. "In order to go back to your time, you must first save the lions from their doom. Oh, and, you shall comunicate with them." "Comunicate?" Picard asked. "How?" "I shall allow it." "Why, Q?" "I don't know. The continuim is making me. I'll be watching your progress Jean-Luc." "Where? Where can we find lions?" "Must I do everything for you? Mr. Data has the where abouts." Then, he vanished. "I should've known Q is apart of this. Mr. Data?" "Yes sir," he said. "I have the location." "Very good, Mr. Data, Mr. Worf, Your with me. Picard to Dr. Crusher, meet me at transporter room one." "HOLD IT!" Simba yelled. He was acompanied with two other lions. "Where are you going?" "Oh, I'm afraid I'm new here, and don't know my way around. Could you help me?" The lion asked. Simba eyed him very harshly. "I am Simba." "Your majesty," the lion said, bowing. "It is an honor." "You are not allowed in the elephant graveyard, understood?" "Yes, your majesty," he said. "Who are you?" "My name is Habka. I come from the west, your majesty." "Well, cary on." "Yes, your majesty," he said walking off. "Fallow him," Simba said. The lions went off after Habka. CHAPTER ONE THE ENTERPRISE "Why would the continuim want to save the lion kingdom for?" Riker asked. "It's of no importance to them. And if it wher, why don't they save it themselves? Why have humans do it for them? "All shall be awnsered, Com. Riker, once your Capt. does his job," they heard Q's voice say. "But for now, you'll have to go on curios." On Earth: Simba still looked at his kingdom, watching over it, like he always does. Then, he saw something. A glare of light, then 4 creatures. "ZAZU!" he called out. Zazu came once he heard the roar. "Yes, sire?" "Didn't you see that?" he asked. "See what?" "Those, things out there. They stept out of a beam of light. Do you see them?" Zazu could see the 4 figures, but not a "beam of light". "Yes, I see them." "Alrite, call the guards. I want those unharmed. Clear?" "Very good sire." Zazu flew off, while Simba started in the figure's direction. "I want phasers on stun," Picard said. They all looked at him curiosly. "Well, these are lions. They may be dangerous." They adjusted their phasers, and Crusher pulled out a triquartor. "Anything, Dr. Crusher?" Picard asked. "There are 3 lions, coming in our direction." "See what I mean?" Picard said. "This is odd," Crusher said. "What?" "There's a, hornbill with them." They turned and saw Simba, Zazu, and the two guards aproaching. Worf held his phaser up towords them, but Picard said, "No, Mr. Worf. Not untill we've made contact." They all thoght It was silly, talking animals. But if they ever wanted to go home. "Greetings," Picard anounced to the animals. "I am is Capt. Jean-luc Picard of the USS Enterprise. Simba, the guards, and Zazu all looked at him wide eyed. So, these creatures could talk. "I'm Simba," Simba started, "King of the Pridelands." The landing party looked wide eyed at the animals infront of them. So, they could talk, just like Q said. "I am...." the captain had to choose his words wisely. "I am from the future." "The future?" "Yes. I'm here on a mission to save your kingdom." "My kingdom?" Simba looked at Picard puzzled. "What's wrong with it?" "Oh, nothing, I'm sure. But I do know that something's going to happen, but I don't know what." "If you're from the future, how can you prove it?" "Would you like to come abord our Starship?" Simba looked at Zazu, then at guards. "If my companions may come with me, yes." "Picard to Enterprise, 8 to beam up." USS Enterprise "Simba, this is the bridge," Picard said. Riker got up, but Picard calmed him. "It's alrite #1. This is king Simba. you are to show him full diplomatic curtisy." "Eye sir," Riker said. He noded his his head at Simba. "Your majesty." Simba smiled, and gave a nod back. "Captain," Simba said. "What's that big, blue thing on that wall (refering to earth on the view screen). "That," Picard said, "is earth, where we just wher. You might call it, passing thru the sky into the heavans. Among stars." "Among the kings? Father?!" Simba was still looking at the view screen. So Simba wouldn't give his hopes up, Picard said, "Oh, thatland is far away from here. So far, we can't get there." "So he's not here?" Simba asked. "No," Picard said. Zazu looked at the computers. "Amazing," he muttered. "Your majesty," Picard said. "Welcome on board the USS Enterprise." CHAPTER TWO SCAR "SIR!" Data yelled. The worm hole was opening. "Mr. Data," Picard said," report." "Sir, a ship is emerging from the worm wormhole." "A what? What kind of a ship?" "Checking. It's a Klingon bird of prey." "What the devil is doing here?" "Well, captain," Q said apearing from nowhere, "I can't make it that easy for you." Angry, Picard said, "Open hailing frequencys." The screen changed from the ship and space to a orangeish, redish lion with some kind of scar on his right eye. Simba jumped. "Scar," he barely muttered. Picard looked at Simba, then searched for Q who was gone, then back at the view screen. "Klingon ship," he said, "please explain why you are here." "Simba," Scar scolded out. Now the entire crew was completly confused as to what was hapening. "Simba," Scar scolded out agin, "is it not time to "slip the dogs of war" once agin?" With a motion of his paw, he cut the hailing frequency. "Red alert!" Picard yelled. He knew exactly what this "Scar" was trying to do. "Sir," Worf yelled, "they're raising and powering up weapons!" "Why would a Klingon ship fire at us?" Riker asked. "There is a possibility that it is a Duras ship. Simba, who is this "Scar" fellow?" "It's my uncle, whom I thoght was dead," Simba replied. Then, he was motionless. Picard wondered for a few seconds, then put his mind back on the Klingon ship. "Mr. Worf, fire phasers." The phasers fired and hit the Klingon ship. Then, Simba said, "Captain, I need to get on the surface!" The Klingon ship returned fire, and the Enterprize returned that with a torpedo. "I'm sorry," Picard said, "we can't transport you anywhere unless we lower the sheilds. Than our ship would be lost." The Klingon ship fired another phaser, and the Enterprize returned that with yet another torpedo. The Klingon ship exploded. "Mr. Data," Picard started, "confirm the age of that ship." Picard hit his comunicator and said, "Picard to transporter room one, emergency transport. Simba to the serface." CHAPTER THREE SCAR AND HABKA BY, RYAN MARKEY Simba looked around after being transported down on the surface. He saw another beam of light and saw his guards and Zazu. "Zazu," he said. "Go back and tell the others that Scar might have returned, and might be alive and well. "Problem?" Habka said, seeming to apear out of no where. "You!" Simba said angrily. "What are you doing here? What did you hear?" "Nothing, your majesty, nothing. I just wanted to know what was the problem. "It's classified. Now, please leave." "As you wish." He bowed, and smiled. "Guards, start looking for Scar, and tell me when you find him. "Yes sir," they chanted, and left. Simba started looking himself. Then, he saw somthing. Scar. "Scar!" Simba yelled. Scar turned to face Simba. "Hello, Simba. Suprised aren't you?" Simba started walking towords Scar, but then he pulled out something. It was a Klingon phaser. "I wouldn't try that, Simba." He aimed it at a rock, and fired. The rock disinagrated. "What the...." Simba started. "It's called a phaser. It's deadly, Simba, so I wouldn't try anything." "How did you get away from the hyenas?" "Well, you see, a lion from the future named Habka helped me. He was the only lion left on the face of the earth, but the Klingons stold him. He was very intelagent. Infact, he managed to build a time machine, but it was just destroyed. He knew about me from history, and he liked me. He promised me that if he wher to help me, I would give him 25% of the kingdom." "Why didn't he just take it? He has all that technology, why would he need you?" "You see, I'm the next in line, I'm royalty, and he can't cheat the lion's culture. So, before the hyenas could get me, he transported me up on his ship. Now, here I am. And I'm going to kill you." Just then, Simba slaped Scar's hand, and the phaser went flying. Then, he swaped Scar one. After Scar fell to the floor, Simba went for the phaser. While picking it up, Scar jumped him. They bear- hugged each other, fighting for the weapon. Simba knocked Scar off of him, picked up the phaser, and aimed it at Scar. "NOOOO!" Scar yelled, runing towords Simba. Simba pressed the triger, and fired. Scar was no more. "Very good, Simba," Habka said. "Very good." Simba pointed the phaser at Habka, and fired. Nothing happened. "Oh, you think a small lion could be so smart as to make a time machine. I think not. It would take a.... Q.... to do that." Habka changed from lion to human. He was really Q. "Let's get captain down here." He snaped his fingures and Picard apeared out of nowhere. "Ah, captain, glad to see you. Thank you for saveing the lion species. You may go." "Wait, Q, why? Why did you want us to do this?" "Just to see if your kind could do it. If you wher to have failed, we would've gotten rid of you as well. Another trial, captain. Now, you two say goodbye, and you both shall have your awards." "Simba, your majesty, it was an honor." "Same here captain. We are forever in your depth." "Good luck." "Are you ready now, captain?" "Yes, of course." Q snaped his fingures, and Picard was back at the Enterprize. "Now, for you." Simba saw a huge glare of light. "Where, where am I?" "Simba?" he heard a familiar voice say. "What are you doing here? It's not your time." Simba turned to see his.... "Father," he said. "Father." "Yes, Simba. What are you doing here?" "Q.... sent me...." "Oh, Q is it? Is he actualy doing something rite?" "Yes...." "Simba, how are you?" Simba stared in his father's eyes, and started crying. "Oh, Don't start that." "I miss you, father." "Now, don't worry, you'll be with me later. I promise." Simba started to fade. "NO!" he called out, "NOT YET!" "Simba, listen to me, I don't want you to be upset. I'm fine, and I like it here. Soon, you'll be with me forever, I promise." "I don't want to go." "Simba, don't be sad. I'll be here when you return. I love you son." "Father!" Simba said, as he faded and was returned to Pride Rock, Q standing infront of him. He started to cry even more, as Nala saw them and came walking towords them. "Simba?" she asked. "What's wrong?" "Nothing," Simba said, looking up at Q. "Thank you." "Your majesty," Q said, snaping his fingures, and disapearing. CHAPTER FOUR "THANK YOU ENTERPRISE" Simba walked up to the tip of Pride Rock, and scrached in the rock, "Thank you Enterprise". Over four centiries later Picard walked up on the Rock that was once the tip of Pride Rock. Over the years, Pride rock was destroid with age, and another was built in it's place. Picard saw the writeing on the rock. "Thank you Enterprise". THE END ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I'm sorry to say, but this story did not take part in "Star Trek" or "The Lion King" history, since I'm not a writer for Paramount or Disney. I enjoyed writeing this and am looking forword to writing another, maybe a sequal to this one, only featuring Kirk's Enterprise and his crew. But now I'm not really sure. Don't forget to read my "Jurassic Park" and "The Lion King" parody fetured at Ryan's lion (Ryan's lion, heh?). Oh, and I never realy did say if that Klingon ship was a Doras. Well, Starfleet nor the Klingons went to war, so I guess it was.
