Scar and Mufusa grew up together safely,
but hate and his parents' bias took strong hold in
Scar's heart. He had inherited a weak body, one that
contrasted strongly with his brother's.
But Mufasa had a big heart, and did not care for those
differences. He always viewed Scar as his best brother
and friend, someone whom he shared his fun and adventures
with. But Scar always turned out the loser in games and
wrestling matches. The youthful Mufasa was just being
playful, and did not know this would increase Scar's
hatred of the others. Scar's heart was gradually consumed
by darkness...
As the young cubs grew, Ahadi and Rima chose a night
to discuss about the future of the kingdom when the two
youngsters were asleep.Rima worried that if Mufasa was to
take over the throne, Scar would be jealous. But Ahadi
insisted that Scar should know his place.
"Scar is not my successor. His weakness does not qualify
him for such a position. Let him be Mufasa's assistant
shall be enough." Said Ahadi.
"If I knew it was so,
perhaps I should have abandoned him..."
Rima replied.
These conversations were heard by Scar, who was only
pretending to be sleeping. He finally knew why he was
not loved. Just because he was "The Second Place",
jus because he had the appearance of a weaklingˇK
If only his parents had loved him, he would have grown up
healthily. He wouldn't have gotten this scar...
It was unfairˇK Too unfair!
Scar's claws dug into the ground,
tears of sorrow and anger streamed down his cheeks.
The cub's little heart was now completely devoured
by hatred. One day,
he will make them all pay!
Days passed by,
and as Mufasa learned the ways of govern and the balance
of nature from his father, Scar pretended to be
indifferent, though thoughts of vengeance clouded his
mind...One day, young Mufasa and his mother went to hunt
together, but a group of hyenas suddenly appeared to rob
the lions of their food. Because the hyenas outnumbered
the two felines, they succeeded in stealing away half of
the lions' meal. Scar watched the scene taking place,
and noticed that the hyenas, although not on the bright
side, were very strong when acting as a group. Therefore,
Scar obtained the idea of manipulating the hyenas to work
for him...One day, when Ahadi bring Mufasa out to hunt,
Scar slipped to the Elephant Graveyard to find some hyenas
He found three youngsters playing in the yard: Shenzi,
Banzai and Ed.Scar came before them, hoping to make some
friends."Who do you think you are?
We don't make friends with lions!"
The hyenas refused Scar from joining them.
But Scar was expecting this answer,
and proceeded to ask them what they were playing,
and then jeered at them by saying their game was a bore.
He promised to teach the hyenas better, cooler games.
The three hyenas watched Scar with skeptical eyes.
He led them near a herd of antelopes,
and Scar's observant eye
quickly spotted a lone baby antelope chasing a butterfly.
He told the hyenas to act.
The careless antelope continued to chase after the
butterfly, until Scar suddenly appeared in front of it.
It quickly fled back,
only to find the escape route being blocked by the three
hyenas. The three hyenas chased the antelope into a
thorn bush, and as the animal struggled and cried inside
the spiny hell, the hyenas rolled on the ground laughing.
They loved the game of death, and they loved Scar for it.
From then on, Scar was part of the group.
After failing to find Scar upon his return, Mufasa went
about to look for Scar. When he approached the antelope
herd, he found Rafiki busying treating an injured fawn.
After inquiring after the matter,
he was told the crime was committed by a trio of hyenas.
Mufasa was very angry, and swore to rid o the hyenas for
good. But then, Rafiki mentioned of a young lion who
was in the group...
Mufasa felt something strange going on,
and decided to head for the Elephant Graveyard to check
it out. As he approached the dark realm,
he was drawn to an opening by the noises of a group of
creatures. Upon inspection, he found Scar, playing with
the hyenas! The hyenas were at one side of a pile of
bones, daring Scar to jump across a crevice on the ground
that periodically shot out flaming jets of lava.
Scar stood on the other side hesitantly;
it was unwise for him to play games of this kind with his
weak body. But the urge to become a part of the hyenas'
group, he leapt. But just then, a hot stream of molten
rock appeared, burning steam reaching up toward Scar.
Without a second thought, Mufasa jumped into the air
and pushed his brother out of the way just in time.
He then turned around to bare his teeth at the hyenas,
warning them to leave Scar alone. Banzai angrily tried
to explain the situation, but Scar gave the hyenas a
meaningful look, and so they left...
Mufasa brought Scar home, and questioned him why he was
playing with the hyenas. Scar cunningly blamed the
hyenas for the matter, and sadly told Mufasa that he
had no playmate to have fun with.
Mufasa was caring toward his only brother,
and so he told Scar that he was his good buddy,
and he did not want him to do such dangerous thing again.
Scar had always hated Mufasa,
but after hearing these words his feelings became
ambiguous. At last, Scar promised Mufasa that he will not
go to the hyenas again, but he asked Mufasa not to say a
thing about what happened. The innocent Mufasa said okay,
but that was the beginning of it all...
Afterward, Scar used every moment he can find to make
contact with the hyenas, bring them foods and teaching
them all kinds of wicked little tricks. After a long time,
almost all the hyenas in the land adored Scar and abided
to his orders. Manipulating these fools were easy tasks
to Scar, and now that he had the control of the hyenas,
he would move onto the next stage of his plans.
By coincidence, the Pride Lands was being ravaged by a
severe plague. Animals everywhere fell to the deadly
disease. Unfortunately, Ahadi and Rima were soon infected
as well. Rafiki looked laboriously for a cure, but to no
prevail. Seeing Ahadi growing weaker day by day,
Scar knew his time had come. |
