On a dark night, Scar did not return home.
Mufasa worriedly wanted to go about looking for him,
but Ahadi asked Mufasa to stay and look after Rima,
and went searching for Scar by himself.
Mufasa was worried about his father's illness,
but Ahadi insisted that he would be alright.
The lion searched for a while without success;
suddenly, two strolling hyenas attracted his attentions.
The two hyenas quickly laughed and ran away.
Ahadi curiously followed them to the Elephant Graveyard,
only to find Scar being attacked by a group of hyenas!
Scar shouted for his father's assistance.
The angered Ahadi quickly jumped into the pack of hyenas
to free his son, and his body, though ill,
was still agile enough to fight through the crowd and come
to his son's side. He caringly asked Scar if he was ok.
Scar gave a sly grin, and answered,
"I am perfectly fine... A.Ha.Di!"
Ahadi's face was overcame with fear, but it was too late.
Scar slashed his clawed paw across Ahadi's face,
the force of his blow throwing the old lion onto the ground.
Ahadi got up from the ground weakly, still a look of
disbelief on his face. "That... was for you so heartlessly
abandoning me years ago!" The hyenas rushed up to Ahadi,
and the lion was now too weak to fend them off.
He could only use his remaining strength
to get out of this place...
but Scar quickly blocked him from escaping.
"I will not let you leave this place!
Ever since the moment I awoke, alone, abandoned, on that plain,
I was no longer your son!!!" Scar leapt toward his father,
grabbing his shoulders with clawed paws,
and locked his jaws firmly on Ahadi's throat, breaking his neck...
Scar licked the fresh blood on his muzzle,
letting off a ma laughter of victory.
He finally succeeded. He finally had his revenge!
The only thing left was getting rid of Mufasa,
and he would be the King of Pride Lands!
An abandoned, unwanted cub, becoming the king of Pride Lands;
the thought was musical in Scar's mind!
Scar awarded the hyenas with a generous amount of food,
and then ripped a number of wounds on his body.
He returned to the Pride Rock, with Ahadi on his back.
Mufasa was wondering nearby,
waiting impatiently for Scar's return.
He found Scar, injured and torn-up,
with Ahadi's dead body on his back.
Scar laid it all down.
He told of being attacked by the hyenas,
and Ahadi's bravery in trying to save him;
but Ahadi's sickened body betrayed him,
and he died trying to save his son.
Mufasa sadly took over the throne,
with his mind set to rid his land of the hyenas...
The plague was still ravaging the lands,
and a cure has not yet been found.
Rima's condition was also nearing the end;
pressure was increasingly difficult for Mufasa to bear.
He prayed to the stars... he prayed for a miracle.
That miracle was Sarahbi.
Sarahbi was also infected by the plague. But by pure chance,
her illness recovered after she drank
the water from a small stream.
She immediately told Mufasa of her recovery,
and so they set out with Rafiki to the stream to investigate.
Scar was alone with his mother,
and he found this to be the perfect time to make his move.
He pressed his paw on her throat,
and the other covering her mouth
to prevent her from making any sound.
Rima was too ill to fight back,
and she soon suffocated to death
under Scar's murderous paws...
Meanwhile, the trio at the stream investigated the water.
Rafiki noticed a unique herb
growing alone the water that must have cured the illness.
With the cure in his paws, Mufasa returned joyfully
to the Pride Rock at once,
only to find death waiting for him...
Scar sadly told him that, soon after he left,
his mother died quietly in peace.
Mufasa could not believe this cruel reality,
while Sarahbi tenderly comforted him.
Only Rafiki eyed Scar with a sense of suspicion...
That night, after Rima's funeral,
Scar tearfully embraced his brother.
"Scar, you are my last family in the world...
Let no misfortune happen to you,
because without you, I would die of a broken heart..."
Scar's feelings again tingled.
Yes, his parents were cruel to him...
but Mufasa did not view him as his enemy,
but his family, instead. But, as long as his brother was there,
the throne would never be his...
His place in the world would not change; nobody would notice him!
Self-conflicts distracted Scar from his plans for the coup,
and so he waited for himself to sort things out...
