"When The Lion Rages": A View Of Child Sexual Abuse

You're trapped and alone;

a world of darkness, of dimensions gone mad.

You scream and cry out and only the echoes remain;

They reverberate across time and space and across the

boundaries that divide one reality from another.

Your mind and soul cry out for a panacea as the

primal forces unleash a hellish maelstrom through your

shattered psyche.

A malevolent worm, feeding off the festering, poisoned gangrene that threatens to consume you.

In a moment, your innocence is lost and what's left is but a mere skeleton of who you were.

You're wounded and hurt, left to die--maybe;

left to fend for yourself like a lion on the prowl.

In your mind you form a cocoon, the force field with which you form the defensive numbness that pacifies your hungry soul.

Then, the Lion rages:

You lash out, the claws of your anger and rage wounding those who claim they are close to you;

And you watch, with manic bloodlust playing on your features, as victim after victim falls prey to the Lion within.

You feel the need to be free, to escape from the nightmare of who you are and to slip into the fantasy of who you want to be.

Then, the Lion rages:

And you're backed against the corner, nowhere to run and no place to hide.

And after all the tears you've cried, you cry still more wondering when will the vicious cycle of the ongoing anguish end and put to rest the Lion that rages.

I look,

nowhere to hide, nowhere to run,

I want my freedom up in the sun;

soaring up high, no tears to cry,

part of that world.

When's it my turn?

Wouldn't I love,

Love to explore that Freedom above?

Outside of me

Wandering free

Part of that world.

And then reality bursts, splits, fragments, and divides into a kaleidoscope of shattered choices;

of voices in dissonance and discordant harmony.

Reality stops, tumbles terminus over origin and folds back into itself.

On the verge of everlasting blackness and teetering towards death, through the hellish cacophony,

I choose life.

An explosion and reality rights itself;

Normal, graceful and free.

No longer a prisoner and no longer in fear

of the danger to behold

when the Lion rages.
