One of the things I pride myself most on are the stories I've written, especially two of them: my sequel to the movie The Secret of NIMH and another one I wrote based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series. My main character in the Sonic one was named Topaz, and she was a blink-lynx -- a lynx with the ability to disappear at will. When first logging onto IRC, I took the nickname Lynxcat for Topaz, who's one of my favorite characters. That's where the Lynxcat comes from...

When I was thinking of a title for this page, I first came up with "Eyes of the Lynxcat." Somehow, though, with that title, something was missing. I feel that my biggest accomplishment is my NIMH sequel, and I wanted to incorporate some of that into my page. It's my pride and joy, after all, and very me. It's the only story I've ever been able to finish of all the ones I've written... and if you're a close friend of mine, you know the length it took. I won't mention that here. =) But again, the name of the main character took hold -- Amber. Am is very much a part of me, and when I thought, it hit me that a lynx's eyes are an amber color anyway -- perfect for a title that speaks for me. Thus, my page is named what it is.
