I've been in #LionKing off and on ever since I met Simba in March of 1996, but in the past year, it's become my main hangout on IRC. And for good reason: the people on there are waaay (in IRC talk) kewl. :) This channel is definitely the best one I've ever been in, and it's great to find a channel where everyone's around my age (ranging about five years on either side) and where I can be myself. :) So here's a little page for it... I know this looks very different from some of the old regulars' pages for the channel, but these are the people I hang with and know.
The bots...
Caizen is basically a dog in the guise of a bot. :) Garfr owns and runs her. She's a good dog, unless you get her mad... then she can growl or snarl at ya. But otherwise, she's quite a loving pup... she'll even come when you call her, sit obediently, and let you know when someone was last on. :)
FlatCat
FlatCat is Garfr's other bot, and he runs as a compliment to Caiz and SimbaTLK. Usually you'll only find him on the channel when there are takeover attempts afoot. :).
SimbaTLK
TLK, as we've come to shorten the name, is the other main bot on the channel -- a big 'ol lion who just might come up to you and put his paws in your lap. :) He's an Eggdrop version 1.0p, owned and run by Simba, and he's the big protector of the channel. I've finally gotten used to using him (the secret : know how to use a DCC chat with a bot! :) ) and he's a real asset to have. :)
The people... (and no favoritism intended! :) )
Abu (aka Rhoon, formerly known as KingLance or LionHeart)
Abu is a monkey with an attitude, but methinks under that monkey is a teddy bear. :) He's from Ft. Lauderdale, and we always promise each other that we'll meet someday, go fig that we haven't yet Looks like we just might in October, though, and hopefully he's coming to Gainesville for college. :) He's one of the few masters on the channel, and known for his silliness... and his temper sometimes, too. :) But he's one of my protectors... someone makes a pass at me, my monkey defender's on his tail. :} He's also a bit of a flirt. :) Abu and I always greet each other with a long superhug that takes up close to a full line, due to an old inside joke... hey, what's a little superpouncetacklelynxkittenhughughugglebutnottootighttohurtakyootiddlemonkey hug between friends? It's IRC, after all. ;)
Aimless (aka Tenzu, Naimless or Yossarian)
Aim is one of the newest to the channel, but he's become a favorite quickly. He's not as on as often as he used to be, and I miss having him around in the mornings. :) He was also on of the four of us who went on a trip to Walt Disney World in April... (more on that later :) ) He's really kewl to be around, with a great sense of humor and real caring for friends, IRC or IRL. :) He's recently succumbed to the idle thing and become one of our little chapter of Idlers Anonymous, thanks to MUCKing, but it's fun to grab his attention and play on the channel for a while. :)
babydol got to know each other right before Christmas, and cemented our friendship in March. This girl does it all, between school and list moderator of the TLK-L mailing list, yet she still finds some time to spend with her friends. She's a wonderfully caring person and definitely one to liven up the channel. She's also there to lend a hand when the chips are down. You got it goin' on, babydol, and you're on fire. ;)
What to say about Chaka? :) I've gotten to know him really well in the past couple months, and though we've had some rocky times, we still have a real bond between us. Both of us are global thinkers, and we end up feeding off each other's ideas and just throwing concepts around. Fun stuff. :) Chaka's also my art and writing critic... so far, I'm glad to hear his good reviews. :) If you don't find him on the channel, you can find him chasing Caniche with balloons. ;) (I'll get to that project soon, I swear! :) ) He's also a very caring listener to his friends. Cubbi
Cubbi is the master of the /me command... all his statements are made with actions. :) Cubbi's from Russia, and isn't on a lot anymore, but I'm always sure to sing a round of "Gummiberry Juice" with him when he's on.
Esme (aka Katie, BushGirl, Esmerelda or Esmeralda)
Esme and I only really say hi on the channel, so I don't know her that well, but from what I do know of her, she's a sweet girl... She's another tangled up in the complications of the IRC families! :)
Fifty4-4o (aka Tok, Fifty or Phifty, formerly known as Tokeko, Jadedite and Ranma)
Fifty (or, as you'll hear me call him, Feeftee :) ) is one of the people I first got talking to when I came on the channel. Lately, I've been finding more and more that he's a wonderful friend, and I hope to meet him this October when we head to WDW... He's also nuts about The Tragically Hip, along with Moysh. :)
FinnLion (aka Finny)
Finny's not on as much anymore, but he's quite cool to talk to. :) You can kind of tell from his nick that he's from Finland... It's kind of weird to hear that it's the other side of the day when he's on (when it's day here, it's evening there. :) ) Finny's one of the first people I met on the channel, and he's always ready with a SuperDuperLionHug for one of his friends. Hopefully, we'll see him at WDW too.
Gaidal (aka Diedric)
Gai has been MIA from #LionKing for more than two months now, and I haven't talked to him in that time... I really miss him. We used to talk all the time during the mornings on the channel and marathons on the phone at night (D'oy, I still wouldn't want to see him phone bill! :) ) He was always one to liven up the daily conversation to get it out of idle mode (which, if you know #LK, it does a lot during the day. :) ) He also was one to liven up a night with a phone call. He's such a wonderful friend, and always there with a shoulder to cry on... he's been one of the ppls I can talk to the best. He's also quick with a joke about anything, and what a sense of humor! :) Hey! Gai! Wake up! MISS YOU!!
Garfr's rarely on the channel talking... but he's always on. :) He's one of the masters on the channel and now also an official IRC op... so watch out, all you on the channel who tease him! :)
Illystal
Illy is one of the old regulars on the channel -- she was around a LOOONG time before I was. :) She and Ro hang out a lot together in RL... and they both are quite kewl. :) Illy is also known for her habit to give out flowers spontaneously. :) I don't see her much on any more though... :(
Insayne (aka Eron, formerly known as ForrestG)
Inny is an awesome guy. :) He and I started talking when I first came on the channel to stay, and we've been good friends since. He's quite fond of blowing up things on the channel (his info line is "Join the Army! Meet new people! Kill them!" :) ) but he's a sweetie, and a very good listener and someone who will always start interesting conversations on the channel. You know it's going to get goofy once you get him started. :) He's also the "little brother" or "big brother" to a lot of the others on the channel (boy, IRC families can get complicated! :) ). Unfortunately, he's been sighted very rarely lately, and I miss him...

Moysh (aka Hipsta)
Moysh (some of us call him Moyshers :) ) has been a friend from the first time I spent long hours on #LionKing. He and I started talking on query, and I found a great guy who is always willing to lend a shoulder when needed... and who isn't afraid to do a little scheming. (He's the one who's partially responsible for getting Simba and me together -- he gave me the confidence... and the info, hehehe. Quite a matchmaker. :) ) We still talk a lot, and I know I can always count on him.
NadaNaga
Nada's not on the channel much any more, and I miss her. She was one of the people that always helped get the channel out of nighttime idle mode and into some great discussions. She's also a caring listener and has helped me through some rough times (especially with one incident on IRC...) Here's hoping I see her a little more often (maybe when I get night access to a 'puter again :) ) and we can further our friendship.
I've just recently gotten to know Nite, but she's been on the channel a long time... but, we're now sisters-in-LD :) because she and I both have long-distance relationships going. :)
Noe (aka Noey)
Noe was one of the first /query chats I got going when I got onto #LK. :) She belongs to the party of thse who can liven up a dead channel by her entrance. :) I think it's pretty much agreed that Noe gets the most exclamation points and hugs in greeting when she comes on the channel. :) But, since then, Noers (as some of us call her :) ) and I have become such close friends that we decided very recently to become sisters. :) I now am part of an IRC family, and I finally gots a sis! ;) She is one of the sweetest and most caring people I know, along with a great artist and a wonderful listener. :) *hugs* sis! :)
Pawdle (aka Tshiki, formerly known as Yoda)
Paws doesn't come around as much as she used to, I assume because of the school year. :l But we're always happy to see her.
Rafiki (aka Fiki or Iki)
Fiki's another of the masters on the channel, and he's always been as kind as his namesake to me. :) He was the first to give me bot ops on the channel with Caiz, and I'm still slowly learning how to use them, but I still thank him for the trust and the welcome to the #LK family. :)
Ro (aka Robears)
Ro and I have been friends since the one day I spent most of the day IRCing, and we shared a laugh over Lum spitting on runners. That's always a laugh with us when we're on the channel. :) Robears is an extremely kewl person, also known to liven things up when it gets quiet. :) She's not on the channel very much any more, taking a self-imposed leave from IRC... hun, missing you lots.
Roogna
All righty, this is an entry that needed changing. :) Roog's one of the old regs on the channel -- one of the first to ever chat there. He and I have gotten really close since Aimless, Simba, he and I went on a trip to WDW in April. There was a real connection, and it's continued. I now end up talking to him a couple nights a week on the phone (I still say I'm going to kill your phone bill! ;) ) He's another one of those wonderful people who unselfishly listen, and he's helped me through several rough times. (Between all the guys on this channel, I think I'm set for good listeners. :) ) He's an awesome person; I love him dearly, and I hope to stay friends with him for a long time... supposedly, he may be moving down here in the near future, and all I have to say is, HURRY DOWN! :)
SabreLion
Sabre is the one of the few people from this channel that I've met face to face (with the others being Roogna, Aimless, and Simba, of course :) ). He was the other person that went on the trip to Disney World in September... thanks to his connections, we got there. :) Sabre is a bit sarcastic, but quite funny. He's also a good friend and someone you can trust to give it to you straight. I trust his opinions and his insight; it's rarely ever far off track. Without him, there are a couple times I'd never have made it through. Sabre, I'll never forget WDW, and I'll never forget you; thanks for all the times you've told me like it is and reassured me. You rule. Heh... party. ;)
Scorp
Scorp is out resident goof. He's known to scare off some new people with his antics, but he's funny, and though he would deny it, he's a sweet guy. :)
Uhm, well, what can I say? You want the full story on him and me, go here. Anyway, Simba's one of the few current regulars who's been around for a while... he's been on the channel for over three years, and he's one of the masters on the bots. Simba's the one who got me on the channel in the first place, and you know what I'm glad he did... *grin*
I've only talked to Spleen a couple times, but enough to know he's quite funny and has a great personality... Spleen is one of the old regulars from the channel, and he doesn't come on much, but when he does, look for the channel to liven up. :)
What can I say about this meerkat? Welp, he's another Floridian... this time from Miami. :) Why haven't I met him yet? Dunno. Want to though. :) He's one of the endlessly cheery people on the channel... and he has a wild side -- he's been trying to get Simba and me IRC married for a while now, but he hasn't succeeded yet. :) He's always ready with a smile for a friend and an ear to listen, and has brightened up quite a few of my down days. :)
