...from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend... the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe... a mighty robot -- loved by good, feared by evil.
So here's a little tribute... and listen up, if you're a TV exec -- PUT
THIS SERIES BACK ON AIR!! Do you have ANY idea how many of us would
watch it? Whoever discontinued it should be shot for even THINKING of
taking it off!
Like you all to remember this part of the page is under MAJOR
construction...
Thus
begins one of the coolest damn cartoon series ever. I remember when I was
younger, Voltron was the series. Never mind if it's Japanimation --
I get a lot of gripes from other cartoon lovers about that. "Why of all
things did you like a Japanimation series? All the characters look the
same and anyway, the animation isn't all that great." Ah well, to each his
own... ;)
This is the story of the superforce of space explorers, specially trained and sent by the Alliance...
Every member of the Force is different. They each have a distinct look
and personality separating them from the others, and yet combined they
work well as a team, much like their Lions. To run through each of the
Force individually...
Keith
Lance
Pidge
Sven
Hunk
Still working on compiling this stuff, but one thing -- I agree with
many fans of Sven that Allura should NEVER have been allowed to pilot the
Blue Lion. I never liked Allura, and think that Lotor deserved her. Keep
Keith for someone better. =)
The
Voltron Force was five of the toughest young space explorers in the
galaxy. All five of them have extraordinary fighting (both hand-to-hand
and dogfighting) skills; all five were top of their class in the Academy.
At first detained and made slaves for the sport arena on Planet Doom, they
escaped to fufill their mission -- travel to Planet Arus and resurrect the
mightiest robot in the galaxy -- Voltron, Defender of the Universe. From
left to right: Sven, in black; Keith, in red; Lance, in blue; Pidge, in
green; and Hunk, in orange.
Keith, with the
rank of Commander, is the leader of the team. Arguably the best-looking
(my opinion... ;) ), he has long, unruly black hair that reaches well past
his shoulders and large, dark eyes. He pilots the Black Lion, the Lion
that forms the head and torso of Voltron. His color, no matter whether
it's his uniform or his usual clothes, is red. He happens to be the only
one of the Force who actually wears a uniform as his "street clothes,"
being the one in command. Keith trusts his instincts first, which can lead
him to be very mistrustful of some. They can also lead him into dangerous
situations, though Keith will usually (emphasizing the "usually") think
before he acts. He rarely admits defeat -- he has a never-say-die
personality. He has a good head for leadership, usually maintaining an
outer calm -- but once he's pushed past the limit, he won't hesitate to
fight and fight like a tiger.
Lance, with his
all-American-boy looks, seems to have become second-in-command on the team
when Sven was injured. He has collar-length brown hair and brown eyes. He
pilots the Red Lion, the right arm of Voltron, the one most often handling
the sword. Lance has a quick temper and tends to be the loner of the
team, though he and Keith are best friends. His mouth can get him into
trouble a lot -- he has a tendency to say things without thinking. He also
is the first to come up with a joke or a wisecrack in any situation. Case
in point: in one episode, the Force is caught in a tree monster's vines,
and Lance is the only one free. He flies into view saying over the
comlink, "Hi, guys... got that tangled up feeling? Dr. Lance has got the
answer." His clothing, with his leather jacket, turtleneck and light
brown pants, is a show of his casual, accept-me-as-I-am personality. Lance
refuses to go out of his way to impress others. He's definitely not one of
the cooler heads on the team -- he's second most likely, after Hunk, to
start a fight. His instincts are keener than most; he's usually the one to
uncover a liar or a fake before the others (such as Prince Bokar, who
tried to charm Allura and turned out to be a robeast).
Pidge is obviously
the youngest of the Force -- the "boy genius" type. Short with light
brown hair and large hazel eyes framed with wide glasses, Pidge seems the
least intimidating of the team... but his small stature belies his
ability. He pilots the Green Lion, the left arm of Voltron. Though a few
years younger than the rest, Pidge's fighting skills are as sharp as any
of the Force, and he seems to specialize in the martial arts (while others
of the team prefer different methods of hand-to-hand combat, such as Keith
swordfighting and Lance and Hunk fistfighting). His personality is very
easygoing and enthusiastic, though he can be shy at times. His best friend
on the Force is Hunk, and he's is the one that tries to keep Hunk out of
trouble -- succeeding surprisingly often. Yet he has other good friends in
the castle -- the space mice, who he seems to be able to communicate with.
Sven seems to be
the oldest on the team and is the second-in-command. Tall, dark-haired,
and dark-eyed with a thick accent, Sven is most likely to be the calmest
on the team. His color is black, and he was the original pilot of the Blue
Lion. He was severely injured by one of the first robeasts sent to Arus,
and was out of action for a time, leaving a place open in the Force which
Allura eventually took (and which she never deserved). He seems to
complete a best friend triangle with Keith and Lance. He cares very much
about people, mast likely the biggest humanitarian on the Force (with
Keith in close competition).
I guess if you want
an analogy, Hunk is the "bouncer" of the Force, with a large, stocky body
and muscle power beyond belief. However, his size gives him the tendency
also to be the more clumsy ones of the team. =) His appearance includes
wild, short dark hair held in place by a red sweatband and large dark
eyes. He pilots the Yellow Lion and wears orange. Hunk has the biggest
appetite and the shortest temper of the Force. His love for food is viewed
for one of the first times at the victory feast for Voltron on Arus, where
Keith tells him when he begins to eat, "I didn't mean dig in like a
shovel." His temper -- well, one of his favorite phrases happens to be,
"That makes me so mad!" He'll pick a fight at a moment's notice,
and he'll be one of the first ones in battle. It's usually up to his best
friend, Pidge, to restrain him, which can be comical considering their
size difference!
