- Inspired by John Cage's "silent musical piece," 4'33", Caged Bird is a silent ballet about a girl, Aoka, that refuses to conform to proper ballet routines and wants only to dance her own way. Eventually two young girls, Jola and Jolie, in the mold she strayed from, discover her. They attempt to befriend her by dancing the way they know how, but Aoka does not respond until they dance similar to her, at which time Aoka comes to life. Aoka is accepted by her peers, Jola and Jolie, whom become both individuals and friends to Aoka.
