Subject: The Bionic Cat (semi-offtopic) Date: Sat, 21 Mar 1998 16:09:32 -0600 From: Rindimo Reply-To: TLK-L@lionking.org Organization: L.O.S.T.-- C.A.U.S.E To: tlk-l@lionking.org I figured I'd write this to go with the things talked about with transformations. It's pretty much off topic. Rindimo once was a normal human being- until he decided to take a plane ride to New York to see The Lion King on Broadway. Little did he know, there were terrorist hijackers onboard, bent on destroying the world as we know it. The details of what happenned were scarce. All the authorities could get out of the few survivors of the plane crash, was that the Hijackers made the pilot change his course to head towards europe, and they planned to parachute down to some forgotten airbase, and make their escape to hidden militia camps. The plan almost worked, until some crazy wingnut of a hero decided enough terror was enough. Witnesses remember a rather conservative 18 yr. old suddenly grab the ak-47 from the hands of one of the terrorists, knock him unconcious, and proceeded to pick off the others, while all the passengers ducked under the seats. it was said that the valiant soul was hit a couple times himself, but no one could say where. all that is known, was some how the pilot was shot, and the plane started going down.... **** Rindimo woke up with a start. His head was aching horribly, as did the rest of him. He groaned, as he forced himself to sit up in the bed he was laying in, and felt a sharp pain shoot though his back. his grip tightened on the edges of the bed as he held his posture- but not without letting out a yowl. Yowl? As he proceeded to sit up oh so slowly, he looked at his hands. bandaged up as they were, he saw something shining at the ends of his finger tips, he could feel the throbbing pain of cuts, and began to see a little drop of blood form on each finger tip around his claws. CLAWS?! as he stared at what he saw, he could see the new appendages go in and out just at the thought of it! Instead of a nice slender fingertip, he had a slightly larger bulge for the musculature of the claw. "Please, don't play with them just yet, they are still healing onto your body." Rindimo quickly turned his head to a weary scientist with a heavy accent of some sort. More pain ensued, as his neck indicated. "Oh, sorry to do that to you. I didn't mean to frighten you. you really should remain laying down... you're not completely healed yet from the crash." "Crash? the plane crashed?" "Yes. Right here in Switzerland, on our scientific research facility. You were lucky you landed where you did... you were so close to death, what with all the blood you lost, and all the bullet holes in you." The memories began to come back, as Rindimo shuddered at the thought of getting 20 bullets into his torso. He felt a twitch connected to his backside, and turned to see a beautiful tail wiggling at his command. "WHat the heck happened to me!!!!" The scientist cleared his throat a bit before proceeding on.. "Like I said, you were near death, if not dead when we got you. You're lucky indeed. A major portion of your vital organs were damaged, not to mention a portion of your brain. we were currently running an experiment with cats as donors for organs, and an experiment with cybernetics, and... well... you were the perfect candidate." Rindimo noticed a mirror, and was shocked at what he saw. The scientist continued to drone on. "We had a cheetah, and a puma at the time, and since they were close relatives, we were experimenting with organ transplants and such. We were forced to sacrifice their lives for yours... you see, the portion of your brain for motor skills was damaged, so we grafted part of their brain to yours. The airline crash also ruined most of your appendages, so we either reconstructed them, or just replaced them entirely. of course, the only way to make this work, was to alter your dna patterns to those of the feline structure... and here you are. you realize this was the only thing we could do at the time to save your life." Rindimo looked at his face. It was a combination of puma and cheetah portions to make up what used to be a human face. He was a rather strange mix indeed. It seemed so foreign- what he was looking at- he didn't even know that they forgot to give him a hospital gown. "Those poor creatures..." "Well, being we're in Switzerland, ther is much that can be done in the field of science that isn't practical in the rest of the world..." "But you killed them!" "Only to save you! I hope you liked at least one of them... they were such beautiful creatures..." "I love them both... but never thought I'd become both!" "Well, sir, I suggest you lay back in bed... you're not totally healed, yet. we still have to adjust some of the cybernetics to perfection for you." "So what am I? I'm no longer human, that's for sure." "The Bionic Cat sounds good to me." "After I leave this place, how am I to function in humanity again?" "Leave this place? ha! you have at least a couple more months before you are even totally healed, and then, you can only function with top-secret government stuff. Good night, sir, you no longer can go back to the world..." The scientist shut off the lights, and left the room. "We'll see just what this body can do, as soon as it heals..." whispered Rindimo as he went back to sleep. His tail slithered in reply... The Bionic Cat was born! The End...or is it? -- The Tiger is made to kill and hunt, The Lion too, but more towards fight. The Leopards and Jaguars were made to climb, And Cheetahs made for earthly flight. But there is one creature of forgotten lore: Shrouded in mystery, be that it's trade, Of other virtues, it has all four- Respect the Puma, and what God made. -Rindimo E-mail Address: Rindimo@bellsouth.net *If you can read this, then I am still an eligible bachelor!* Founder (and only member) of: The L.O.S.T.- C.A.U.S.E.
