By the time I finish telling this story... It'll probably end with me taking the little fellow home, but that would be an exaggeration of the truth. To day was a normal day at the college... That is, until I walked towards the cafeteria. Apparently, yet again, some major even had occurred without my knowledge. But this time, luck was with me. =) It was a party for all the seniors, sponsored by the Student Activities Board. It was a Luau/Hawaiian type party. Naturally, there was free food, so I got some extra helpings. =) But that's not why I'm writing. The reason I'm writing, is because of one of the attractions that came with the party. THey had a guy from a local zoo bring some exotic animals for people to gawk at. what especially caught my eye, was a cute little lioness named Chloe (Pronounced Cloah-eee). I have a second cousin named that, who's about 6yrs. old... and this little girl was jhust as cute. My timing couldn't have been better. the party, at this time, was dying down, and the Lion cub was finally calming down from all the people, and all the noise. So the keeper took her out of her cage, and was hugging and petting her-- much to her delight. I asked, "Would it be all right if I could pet her, too?" THe word "yes" floated back to me. To tell the truth, the little girl was so happy to be out of the cage, I don't know if she was really aware of me for a while. But after I let her get a whiff of my scent (By placing my hand in front of her nose)-- oh, btw, this was BEFORE I got the free food, in case you're wondering-- she looked at me. She liked it when I scratched behind her ears, and started to play with my hand with her paws, and her mouth. I was amazed at how thickly bunched, and soft her fur was!!! It was almost as if she was made out of silky cotton balls or something. She didn't really have a tuft of fur at the end of her tail, and her coat still had the "baby spots" on it.... making her look almost like a leopard or something. I was astounded by her size, too. she was bigger than most small dogs, and was quite an arm full for her keeper. I guess she must have weighed between 25-30 pounds. So now It has happenned. I first get to pet a female, adult puma/mountain Lion, now I get to pet a Female Lion cub... all that's left is a cheetah, And I can die a happy man. But I still can't figure out why all the big cats I meet are girls. Must be my "Animal Magnetizm." ;) Well, just thought you'd like to hear about it! -Rindimo -- The Tiger is made to kill and hunt, The Lion too, but more towards fight. The Leopards and Jaguars were made to climb, And Cheetahs made for earthly flight. But there is one creature of forgotten lore: Shrouded in mystery, be that it's trade, Of other virtues, it has all four- Respect the Puma, and what God made. -Rindimo E-mail Address: Rindimo@bellsouth.net *If you can read this, then I am still an eligible bachelor!* Founder (and only member) of: The L.O.S.T.- C.A.U.S.E.
