The Successor.

        This is the last of the battles.
        This is the last of the war.
        I fight, though I'm lost,
        But with vigor, I shall fall.

        It's taken years for this day to come.
        Suddenly, the time is here.
        Escape from this place for the both of us
        Oh, the dread, excitement, and fear!

        The weary of the land
        The trodden of the soul
        The toil of the soldier
        The torn curtain of woe.

        The fire of Rebirth shall consume me,
        As I am pushed aside.
        It has been an eon encased in a second,
        For change to break the swollen tide.

        This is the last of the battles!
        This is the last of the war!
        Fallen-- that I am,
        For the legacy can be no more.

        I am your successor.
        And as I watch you burn,
        I cry for your memories
        For forgotten they are what we learn.

        And I hadn't the strength to kill you when you were born.
        But I was concieved when the lots were cast.
        You were a life destined for fading,
        And in a second, I changed the past.

        The mingling of our dreams
        The dogma of our youth
        The light of the stars
        The seeds of the fruit.

        We existed, once together.
        Older than me, you showed me a way.
        And your torture, I felt also.
        It made us who we are, and so it happened in a day.

        This is the last of the battles.
        This is the last of the war.
        The steam from the ashes
        Wafts of rebirth, and of something more.

        This is the end of the battles,
        This is the end of the war.
        We are still a part of eachother,
        Though I'm saddened you are no more,
        And your potential glory, you could not explore.

                        The End.
