Mufasa
Mufasa plays probably the most important role,
given the amount of time he actually appears on screen. He is the king
of the Pridelands and good at that. Mufasa holds the respect of most that
know him and he feels respect towards all other things, knowing the significance
of them. He and his mate Sarabi have a cub and are just presenting it to
the other animals of the land at the beginning of the movie. Next to being
a firm teacher, he also has a gentler side, making him a perfect father.
But his days as ruler grow short as his brother plans to take over the
position.
Mufasa teaches Simba the respect for all around
him, but his death also nearly kills the young cub as he escapes into the
desert to avoid hyenas. The ghost of the great king reappears later, to
convince his son to return and take his place in the circle of life.
