Auther's Note: I orinally did this story a ways back. But when my computer got a virus I had to start over.My computer is back to normal now and here Is my start that I orinally did all long time ago. And if you haven't read Balto: A horse of His Own then I would suggest you read this one first. Just to you get you to know what happened before this. But if you have read Balto: A Horse of his own then go on ahead and read this story.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto Hybrid walked out of the office two years after Balto had found out about Hunter's talent. He walked into Hunter's stall. He placed a halter on Hunter's head and led him out of the barn. With two lead ropes in hand he mounted Hunter's back. Balto asked Hunter to walk. Hunter walked imedatliy. Balto knew that Hunter was no longer a colt. He was now a fully grown stallion. Balto walked Huner to a  paddpck that had jumps in it for Hunter to jump over. In the paddock next to Hunter's, Safria grazed. Sarfria was a mare that belong to Balto's love, Jenna Huskey. Balto was no longer boading Hunter at Windy Hills. A year after Hunter had shown off his talent, Lori Shoemaker moved to her own farm in Pennsiviana. Balto bought a small farm near Ellicott City. Balto wanted to stay in Maryland. Where he would be able to not travel as much to famous horse show like the WIHS, or the Colmbia Classic. Balto could also go to Pimlico and Luarel when he wanted to race his racehorse, Winter Treasure. Balto didn't take care of Winter Treasure. Balto only owned and bred him.

Balto dismounted Hunter. He led Hunter into the paddock and let him go. Hunter cantered and jumped over each jump with ease. Balto went back to the barn and went into the office. He found tons of artcies and read them all. They were all about the Columbia Classic. The famous Mary King and her horse Star Appeal would be entering. Balto knew that Hunter would win.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jenna Huskey dorve into Hunter Farm's driveway. She saw her four year old mare, Safria, in her paddock. Jenna parked here truck on the gravel near the house. She walked out of her truck and walked down to the barn. She entered the office to find Balto reading articles about the Columbia Classic.

"Mary King will have a hard time beating you and Hunter if you go," Jenna said to Balto.

"Mary King says that she wants the jumps to be at their highest for the competion," Balto said. "But I don't think we'll have a hard time at all."

"Nope," Jenna said. "Hunter will be better than his own sire." She looked over where a large black yearling stuck it's head out and bared it's teeth. "Blackie's upset I see. She won't be a Triple Crown Winner if she acts this way."

"Well if see has Emily driveing her she'll kick those little colt's butts," Balto joked. "Emily says Blackie will become so famous."

"Well Blackie is a big filly," Jenna said. She walked over to Blackie's stall. The big filly was crib bitting. She then came up to Jenna and snorted.  "Blackie. Let's take you out." The big filly pricked up her ears. Jenna walked into Blackie's stall she opened the door that was in the back of the stall. Blackie bolted out and galloped around the paddock.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto led Hunter into a trailer that said on the side,"Hunter Farm." Balto got into the cabin where Jenna sat on the passenger side.  "We're off," Balto said when the truck with the horse trailer went out of Hunter Farm. Balto dorve the truck to where a college was.

There was jumps that were set up for the first show. Balto parked the trailer on the grass and led Hunter out of the trailer.  Balto tacked up the stallion while Jenna looked around for Mary King. She saw her besieged by reporter's. Jenna decided to go over to her ex-boyfriend trailer. She saw Steele tacking up a horse named Steele's Hunter. She just watched then went back to where Balto and Hunter were. Balto was putting on the bridle.

"Numbers 242, 243, 245, and 246 please report to the ring," the annoccer said.

"Well gotta go," Balto said. "Wish me luck."

"Sure," Jenna said, kissing Balto on the cheek. Balto blushed. Balto mounted Hunter and then entered the ring. Balto asked Hunter into a canter. Hunter saw the big jumps and hand galloped. The starting bell rang Balto and Hunter soared over the first jump. Balto and Hunter were flying over jumps. Then the last jump came. It was the bigest jump on the course. Balto kicked Hunter into a real gallop.

"That rider is going to fast," a person yelled. The whole crowd gasped as Balto and Hunter appoached the jump. Hunter gained speed. Hunter flew over the jump. The crowd was cheering Balto and Hunter for there spectacular performance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"EXTRA, EXTRA, BALTO HYBIRD AND HUNTER'S TIME BEAT MARY KING AND STAR APPEAL IN THE COLMBIA CLASSIC."

This was what happened. Balto and Hunter became famous. People everywhere were amazed by Hunter's talent. Hunter became the Seabiscuit. People would be besiegeing Hunter when ever he went into the public. Hunter and Balto were a hit.

But the farm hadn't changed. It was still Hunter Farm.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Balto Hybird and Hunter's Time Beat Mary King and Star Appeal in the Columbia Classic," Alec Ramsey read the headline on the local newspaper. Alec studied the photo of Hunter and Balto after the Columbia Classic. Alec reconized the markings on the stallion. Then he read the bloodlines of Hunter's Time. "Well Henry, looks like our little slug turned into a champ."

"Yeah," Henry Daily said.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto got out of his house two weeks after the Columbia Classic. The last two weeks were a blur to him. He walked down to the barn.  He went into Hunter's stall. the stallion was on his side asleep. Hunter lifted his head when Balto walked in the stall.

"Hey boy," Balto said. "Did you have a good sleep? Well Hunter you get to sleep in all day. I'm going to Pimlico today. I'm entering Winter Treasure in a race."

Jenna walked into the barn. "Well are we ready?" Jenna asked Balto.

"Yeah," Balto said.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto drove his Surban in the Pimlico parking lot. Balto found a parking space and drove into it. Balto and Jenna got out and walked over to the stables. Balto got to where Winter Treasure was being stabled. The colt was being bathed by his groom. Balto then talked with Winter Treasure's trainer.

"Winter is in the best shape since the Triple Crown," Winter Treasure's trainer said.

After that Balto and Jenna made their way to the grandstands. Winter Treasure was in the fifth race. Balto and Jenna watched the races.  The fifth race was about to be run. Winter Treasure was in gate number 1. The starting bell clanged. Winter Treasure jumped out first and lead almost the whole way, until a big colt named Hurricane came to fight for first. Winter Treasure and Hurricane delwed until Hurricane became tired in the home strecth. Winter Treasure passed the wire first.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A horse trailer pulled into Hunter Farm later that night. Winter Treasure stepped out of the trailer. Balto then took Winter Treasure and placed him in his new stall. Winter Treasure would no longer be raced. Balto then went to Hunter's stall. Balto knew that Winter Treasure was the past. Now he had Hunter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto awoke the next morning early. He walked down to the barn. He went into the feed room. Balto saw a note on the scooper.

Balto,
Gone to a really big show. Will be home in a week.
Love,
Jenna

Balto read it and knew that the huge show in Californa was going on. Jenna would not to miss it. Balto then filled all the bucket's with pellets.  Balto placed a carrot in Hunter's bucket. Balto then picked up two bucket's at a time to the stall. Balto noticed that Safria was gone.  Balto then went to Hunter's stall. The stallion was standing by the door. Balto placed the stallions food near Hunter. Then Balto feed the other horses. Balto then went into the office. He sat in the chair by the desk. The phone rang. Balto picked it up.

"Hello," Balto said.

"Hey Balto," a voice.

"Oh hey Emily," Balto said. "What's up."

"Well," Emily said, "not much. Except, Lori may come down for the Washington International Horse Show."

"Did you talk to her?" Balto asked.

"No," Emily said. "She sent us a letter."

"Is she bringing Devon, Little Em, and Silly?" Balto asked.

"I don't know," Emily said. "I'm guessing shes bringing Devon and Little Em, but I don't know about Silly."

"Oh," Balto said.

"So I'll talk to you later," Emily said.

"Okay then see ya," Balto said.

"Bye," Emily said. Balto hung up the phone. Balto still sat in the chair. Balto then looked out side. He saw the sun slowy rise. Balto saw a truck come onto the driveway. Balto wento outside. Steele stepped out walked up to Balto.

"Hello," Steele said, acting calmly.

"Hello Steele," Balto said.

"I just thought I would ask you somthing," Steele said. "Have any reporters come here?"

"No," Balto said. "They would never come to a private farm. Why do you ask?"

"The farm I'm at there are reporters everywhere," Steele said. "Do you mind if I stay here for a while?"

"No problem," Balto said. "It has been a bit quiet around here since Jenna went Californa."

"Gee thanks Balto," Steele said. "And good job in the Columbia Classic."

"Thanks," Balto said.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It had been a week since Steele had brought his horse to Hunter Farm. Balto was very nevous. For Balto hoped that he would be able to make it to the Presidents Cup.

Balto went out to the mailbox to find a letter for him from the WIHS President. Balto wasted no time. He opened it and read aloud.

Dear Balto Hybrid,
You have been invited to compete in the Washinton International Horse Show. You will be competeing in the President's Cup.  If you want to compete in the Puisance then you may. The horse you will be riding is Hunter's Time. If you are not pleased with that decsion then you will not ride. We wish you luck.

Sincerely,
The WIHS Team

Balto was very excited about the letter he walked happily down to the house he had to show Steele this. Balto rushed up to Steele.

"Steele you won't believe this," Balto said.

"What," Steele said.

"I have been invited to compete in the President's Cup," Balto said.

"Awsome," Steele said. "I bet that you will win."

"I hope so," Balto said. "Man Jenna will be so happy for me. I've got to tell Lori."

"I bet she will be pleased too," Steele said.

"I'll call her right now," Balto picked up the phohne and dialed Lori's farm number. It ringed.

"Hello," a voice said. "This is Devon Shoemaker, may I help you?"

"Hey Devon it's me, Balto," Balto said.

"My mom is outside training Silly," Devon said. "She will be in about an hour. She is traing Silly for the WIHS."

"I have to work Hunter too," Balto said, looking down at the barn.

"I'll tell mom that you called," Devon said.

"Okay," Balto said. "So talk to you later."

"Talk to you later," Devon said. "Bye." Balto hung up. He then looked down at the barn. He hadn't riden Hunter since the Columbia Classic.

"Steele I need to ride Hunter today," Balto said. "Wanna go on a trail ride."

"Sure," Steele said.

"Okay then meet you at the trails," Balto said. He walked out of the house. He walked straight to the barn. He found Hunter standing in the wash stall. "Hunter what are you doing here?"

"I did it," a voice said. "I was going to ride him."

"Emily," Balto said. "Steele and I ae going on a trail ride. I need to take Hunter."

"Okay then," Emily said. "I'll ride Blackie then."

"Okay," Balto said. Emily got Blackie and put her in the cross-ties. Emily tacked her up and led Blackoe out of the barn. She mounted the filly.

Emily and Blackie went up to the ring. Balto tacked Hunter up and then went out the the trails. Balto mounted and waited for Steele. Steele came just a few minutes after Balto. The two went on their trail ride. They told a few stories. Shared some laughs then Steele's face gave way to concerern.

"Balto look," Steele said pointing at a deer lyning on the ground. "It looks like it's been shot. Don't those hunter's know it is againest the law to hunt here."

"Steele Hunter's name has somthing to do with hunting," Balto said. "And people can fox hunt here. I'm thinking about hosting a fox hunt here somtime." Balto stared at the deer. " We'd better place this somwhere else then here."

"Yeah," Steele said. "But not know. Who knows what that animal diseases are on that deer."

"We'll do it later," Balto said.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto walked into the house to find the phone ring. He picked it up.

"Hello," Balto said.

"Balto, Devon said you called," a voice said.

"Lori?" Balto said.

"Yes it's me," Lori said. "What did you want to tell me. I have somthing to tell you to."

"I'm in the WIHS," both Lori and Balto said at the same time.

"It can't be," Balto said. "Both of us in the WIHS."

"It is ture," Lori said. "Do you mind if Silly gets boarded at Hunter Farm until we are allowed to go to Wasington."

"No problem," Balto said. "Devon and Little Em coming too."

"Yep," Lori said. "I will be here in a week. So you can get ready."

"Okay then," Balto said. "See you in a week. Bye."

"Bye," Lori said. Balto hung up the phone. He was sooooo happy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A week later Lori came with Silly, Ruby, Beau, Devon, Little Em, and Lori's husband. (I don't know his name.) Balto help Lori get the horses out while Emily was cleaning out a stall for Sillly. Emily was very happy to see Lori again. Balto was also happy to see Lori again. For Balto had been taught how to ride with Lori. Balto had known her well. Balto was glad to see her.

Hunter was moe glad to see Silly. For the as a colt Hunter would learn things from Silly. Balto was happy that Hunter was happy. Lori was staying at a hotel not far away.

Everybody was happy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Five days later Balto loaded up Hunter, Silly and Beau in a horse trailer. Lori was already down at Washington getting everything ready for Balto and the three horses to come. Balto drove on the Beltway carefully. Balto went into the city and drove to the MCI Center. Balto and Lori unloaded the horses and led them to their stalls. Balto groomed Balto.

"That mix breed wouldn't be good for high jumping," a voice said. Balto turned around and saw Margie Goldstein Engle with a bay horse. It looked alot like Hunter.

"Well," Balto said, "Hunter can jump really high. You might have some trouble there."

"My horse can be better then yours," Margie said. "Jump off tomorrow. Puisance."

"I don't know," Balto said. "I only entered in the Presidents Cup."

"Then right after the Presidents Cup," Margie said. " I'll arrange a competion."

"Hunter may be tired then," Balto said worriedly.

"No he won't," Margie said, walking away. "And hope that mix breed gets lame." Balto just stood there. He and Hunter were both tired. Lori was giving them lessons on every day she was there. Hunter snored. Balto knew that this was Hunter's other talent. He would sleep alot. Balto just  giggled.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jenna walked into the MCI Center the night of the President Cup. She looked at her program. Balto would be soon. She found Emily, Devon, Little Em, and Steele not to far away from them. Jenna sat in her seat.

"Did anybody get a clear round?" Jenna asked.

"Yeah Margie Goldstein did," Emily said excitedly. Then Emily face turned into like she was in love. Emily was staring at at a boy that was about a year older than her.

"Uh Emily isn't that your friend Sarah," Devon said.

"Yeah it is," Emily said.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto lead Hunter into the ring. He saw ton of people there some were holding banners while other were just watching. Balto mounted Hunter and went into the ring. He was very neverous. Balto heard that same song that Emily was listening to when Balto first saw Hunter. Balto was very upset Emily chose this song.

Balto told Hunter to canter. Hunter and Balto cantered to the first jump. They went over it clearly. jump after Jump was perfect. With only one jump left the crowd didn't know if the stallion could jump that high. Margie Goldstien had it placed to an inch lower to the world record. The other riders didn't want the last jump to be so high. Only Balto and Hunter got that jump. Hunter picked up speed. Hunter flew over the jump. Balto and Hunter were in the jump off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto went out into the ring again for the jump off. The only riders were him and Margie. This was the jump off that Margie had planned. Balto got on Hunter and rode into the ring. Balto had done a clear round. Balto hoped that Margie made some mistake.

Balto watched Margie ride. She had really well. She had only one jump left. Her horse was galloping. Her horse refused to jump over the jump and Margie went over his head, crashing into the jump. Balto only knew one thing. He and Hunter had won.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balto rode Hunter around the ring after Margie had gone. She got second place. Balto held up the ribbion in his hand when he made his way to wear Jenna, Emily, Devon, Little Em, and Steele were sitting, he threw the ribbion to Jenna. Jenna caught it. Jenna knew somthing that the others didn't. Balto had done somthing that Jenna had wanted in years. Jenna now had someone she would always know. She smiled.

Balto got off of Hutner. He saw all the riders besiege him. Giving him pats on the back or other things. Balto then saw Jenna come over. After all the riders had gone away. Balto walked over to Jenna with Hunter in hand. He placed his arm over her shoulder.

"You did a good job," Jenna said.

"Thanks," Balto said.

"I think you should go into the Puisance next year. Hunter jump a full two feet above the jump, " Jenna said. "He could easily break the record."

"Mr. Hybrid," a reporter said. "Where will you and Hunter's Time go next."

"Home," Balto said. "Hunter needs a good rest. Hunter will not be retired. I'm going for the Columbia Classic and the Puisance next year.

"Anything in between that," another reporter said.

"Well there is that big horse show in Californa," Balto said. "We might go there."

"What about the Olympics next Spring sir," a reporter said.

"We don't know about that," Balto said. "Hunter may not be able to go but maybe he will."

"Balto do you think that Hunter will be up for stud between competions," another reporter said.

"No," Balto said. "Hunter is going up for stud until we have become worldwide."

"Balto what are you going to do with the money you have earned," a reporter said.

"We may buy some more horses," Balto said. "And I may do somthing else with it. I'm just not sure what I am going to do with it."

"If you do use the money for somthing other than buying horses what would you buy," another reporter said.

"I would buy somthing very specail for someone," Balto said glancing at Jenna.

"Sir do you plan to enter in the President's Cup again," some other reporters said.

"Maybe," Balto said. "You just never know what I'll do."

"Mr. Hybrid," another reporter said. "Is there anything else you want to tell us."

"Yes," Balto said. "I thni Margie Goldstien is very mad." The reporters laughed and chuckled at Balto's qoute.

"Excuse Mr. Hybrid will please tell us how you think that you won this," a reporter with a camera behind her said.

"Well I think that I wouldn't have gotten him if it weren't for his breeders," Balto said. "They were the ones who had bred him and I just want to say that Hopeful Farm has created a Seabiscuit of the twenty-first century. One that jumps, not races.

"Is Hunter's Time alot like Seabiscuit," the reporter in front of the camera.

"Yes," Balto said. "Hunter eats alot, he sleeps alot, and Hunter has the heart of a hero."

"Mr. Hybrid," another reporter said. "Will Hunter show for a long time."

"Yes he will," Balto said. "Now guys I would really like to cool Hunter down now. You can go interview Margie. She would love the attention." Balto led Hunter to where he was staying for the night. Balto really need to hurry. Lori was going to do dessage soon. He quickly untacked an cooled Hunter down and went to where Jenna and the others were sitting.

Lori came out right after another musical dessager. Lori told Silly to do the working trot till C. She then made Silly side step and make a trot in place. Silly did wonderful. When Lori had exited the ring. The was cheering and boyas. Lori had done a very good job.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day was very cold. Hunter was no longer in the nice warm stables. He would go there tonight for the closing cermory. Jenna came to Hunter stall Balto was outside of Hunter stall trying to stay warm. Balto noticed that Jenna was coming over. Balto made room on a tack box for Jenna to sit down on. Jenna sat down next to him.

"You know Balto I just really want to say that-," Jenna said but then stopped.

"You love me," Balto finished her sentence for her. Jenna stard into his eyes. She rested her head on his shoulder. Balto knew that Jenna loved him and that he had somthing in mind that she didn't know.

The two sat there for a long time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was after the closing cermory. Balto led Hunter into the trailer. The champs were going home. Balto was very happy to go back home. He thought that he was returning from a quest and came back with his love.
