Travel to Luster

Chapter 1: The Talk.
Balto walked over to his new friend. They called her the white wolf. But her real name was not to be said or heard
“Balto,” she said to him. “I believe you have questions.”
“How did you know and what is your real name?” Balto asked.
“I know by what I see in your mind,” she said wisely. “My name must not be spread. Will you tell anyone?” Balto shook his head. “Good. My real name is Aniu.” Balto gasped. “I am not your mother. Your mother was a very selfish husky. Your father was a generous wolf. He saved our pack and your mother. Phantom always wanted to make his pack happy. Spirit only wanted to make herself happy. She hated wolves. Always saying that she was better than all of us in our pack. When your father came here she fell in love with him at first sight. Phantom always impressed the ladies. For of course He was built like his father. Big, tall. Except his father was pure white. And your grandmother was brown.”
“I remember that mom was a Red husky,” Balto said. “But I don’t remember what dad looked like. Mom told me that he was brave.”
“Oh yes your father was so brave he could bring down a fully grown moose without any body’s help,” Aniu said. “Now you want to ask me those questions?”
“Yes,” Balto agreed. “What were talking about with the other wolves? Why were they saying ‘We will be leaving this world?’”
“I told the other wolves that soon we will go to Luster,” Aniu answered.
“Where’s that?” Balto asked.
“It is another world,” Aniu told him. “Home of many different creatures.”
“How do we get there,” Balto asked.
“Though a passage,” Aniu answered.
“Why are we going,” Balto asked.
“To get away from man,” Aniu said fiercely. She stood up. “They shoot us one by one for our fur. They trap us for game. They destroy our kind. And now we will leave them. Just like the unicorns and dragons did.”
“What about Jenna?” Balto asked. “Will she join us too?”
“That is her choice,” Aniu said, “not mine. And she is allowed to join us.”
“I bet she will,” Balto said.
Chapter 2: The Transforming.
Neither Balto nor Aniu knew that in the forest Ewolf was standing right before a cave. The cave that would lead her to Luster. Shall I return to Luster?
What would mother say? Oh I know what she’d say, “Where have you been for the last ten years. You didn’t meet with man, did you” If I say yes then she would surely bring me to the queen. But then the queen will praise me like she did to dad. I will say yes. Okay here I go.
She whispered, “Dog before, unicorn after.” A ray of light captured her. From the star on her forehead, came a horn growing to a fully-grown unicorn’s horn. Her beige paws turned to hoofs. Her rough black and beige fur to smooth bright chestnut coat. A mane grew from the back of her neck. Her tail changed to a long silky strand of hair. Her face changed to a horse’s face. Ewolf had changed into a unicorn. She galloped into the cave and continued until she ran into something.
“Sagarrish?” a voice said, “What are you doing back so early?”
“Lightfoot?” Sagarrish exclaimed. “I thought you were to take Arabella Skydancer’s place as queen. I mean king.”
“No,” Lightfoot said. “Frightfoot did.”
“Oh,” she said. She walked away. “I’m going home.”
“Okay,” he said, “see ya later.”
“See ya later,” she said.
Chapter: 3 The Travel
Balto and the rest of the pack stood before the same cave Ewolf took. But they didn’t know Ewolf’s secret. Aniu told the pack to move on and go inside. They went inside. Jenna who had come along was scared that something bad might happen. As they entered Balto saw some hoof prints going to the end of the cave. They stopped just a few feet before the end of the cave. Balto also saw paw prints turn to hoof prints. How odd? He thought. Why would paw prints change to hoof prints? Maybe a horse was near a dog and their prints mixed. But he never knew that the prints were really Ewolf transforming into a unicorn.
As they walked into the dim cave Balto noticed jewels of all kinds rubies, sapphires, garnets, diamonds, (hmm lets see, If only I had a gem stones book) emeralds, topazes, amethysts, pearls, opals, and some blue topazes. This was a beautiful sight. Suddenly Aniu nudged Balto.
“Are you coming with us,” She said.
“Oh yeah,” Balto said.
They walked the back of the cave. One by one the wolves went though the back of the cave. When it was Balto’s turn he ran right though it. He realized he was in a warm place. He opened his eyes. Balto saw a pearl white unicorn standing in front of him. He was frightened.
Chapter: 4 Face to Face
Sagarrish heard a yell. She bolted to it’s source.
“What’s the matter,” she said. “Cat got your tongue.”
“What’s a cat?” Lightfoot asked.
“Never mind,” she said. “My name is Sagarrish., and this is Lightfoot.”
“Hi ,” he said “And you are?”
“Balto,” Balto said.
“Well then,” Lightfoot said. “Where is your herd.”
“You mean pack,” she said.
“Right,” Lightfoot said.
“Where am I?” Balto asked .
“Why your in Luster,” Lightfoot answered.
“Did you see any other wolves come out of that cave ,” Balto asked.
“Yeah,” Sagarrish said.
“Balto!” a voice yelled.
“Jenna,” Balto said.
“Yes it me,” Jenna said. “Aniu is looking for you.”
“Hello,” Sagarrish said.
“Hello there,” Jenna said. “Now Balto we need to get back to the pack.”
“Why” Balto asked.
“Well there are these a….” Jenna said
“Delvers,” Lightfoot said.
“Yeah that hate these a….” Jenna said
“Unicorns,” Lightfoot said.
“Exactly,” Jenna said. “Now lets go.”
“Can we come too,” Light foot said.
Jenna turned around “No. You might get the Delvers to follow us.”
“They won’t notice me,” Sagarrish said. Giving Jenna a sly look. Jenna looked at Balto her eyes seemed to ask Balto what to do. Balto nodded. Jenna sighed.
“Okay,” Jenna said turning toward where she came in. “You can come.” Sagarrish smiled.
Chapter: 5 The Queen
The pack was entering a clearing. At the end there was a bed of pine needles. On the sides there were ivy carved pictures of past unicorns. On the bed of pine needles the saw a unicorn. Aniu stepped forward to introduce herself. The unicorn introduced herself too. They talked about where the pack would live. Aniu wanted the pack to live close to the queen. And be the queen’s guards. The queen agreed but didn’t want the wolves to be her guards.
“I will soon be leaving to Winter Heaven,” the queen said. “I suggest you live there.”
“Shall we go there now?” Aniu asked.
“No,” the queen answered you are to leave at first light. Moonheart and a group of unicorns will lead you there.”
“Will he choose who goes with him?” Aniu asked.
“Yes,” the queen said.
Chapter: 6 We are a Team
Moonheart got his herd of three unicorns, Lightfoot, Sagarrish, and Fanfare, Moonheart’s brother. The unicorns were walking ahead of the wolves. Sagarrish was talking with Lightfoot.Sagarrish was looking at a strange way at Lightfoot. Young love. Moonheart thought. Why didn’t I have time to do that I spent too much time worrying about Beloved. I will never have any time to find someone. Jenna noticed something was bothering Moonheart. She rushed up to him. “What’s the matter Moony”, Jenna asked.
“Well you see,” Moonheart looked into Jenna’s eyes. He turned his long head away from her. They continued to walk. They passed beautiful changing leaves. They reached a big mountain. “We leave you here,” Moonheart said. “We must help the queen get here.”
“Well looks like we have it on our own,” Jenna said. The pack started to walk up the mountain. Sagarrish looked back. When the other unicorns were gone she turned herself into what she was before, Ewolf. She darted up the mountain barking. “Welcome to the pack Ewolf,” Jenna said as Ewolf came up to see them.
“I’ll stay in the back,” Ewolf said. “We are a team.”
Chapter: 7 The Truth
Ewolf got Balto and Jenna at there new home and went over to a place where they wouldn’t be seen.
“Guy’s,” Ewolf said. “You know Sagarrish
“Yeah,” Balto and Jenna answered.
“Well,” she said. “I am a unicorn. That’s why I can run like a wolf. And this star on my head it’s where my horn grows when I change into a unicorn. I am not a German Shepard. I am a unicorn. And my real name isn’t Ewolf, It’s Sagarrish.” She jumped out of the hiding place to see Delvers all around the three dogs (Well two and a unicorn). Ewolf said under her breath “Dog before, unicorn after.” A blinding ray of light captured Ewolf. It was too bright too but when it stopped Balto and Jenna saw the Delvers still around them closing in on the two dogs. There were hoof beats coming closer by the second. Balto and Jenna were scared for they just heard a roar not too far away. Sagarrish appeared bolting toward the Delvers with a big, red dragon flying behind her. The dragon flew right above Sagarrish and roared at the Delvers. They scattered at sight of the dragon. The Dragon scoped up the delvers and flew away. Sagarrish cantered to Balto and Jenna. “Bye Firethroat,” She said to the red dragon.
“Why did you get the dragon,” Jenna asked.
“Why did it scoop up the delvers,” Balto asked.
“Lady Firethroat loves to eat delvers,” Sagarrish answered. “Firethroat is the dragon’s name that just came.”
They walked back to the pack. When they were not far from the pack they heard an angry voice. “Little lady, you have some explaining to do,” it said. Sagarrish gave up a weird look. “Sagarrish Raindancer, you are grounded.”
“Mom,” Sagarrish complained. “I am a fully grown I don’t need you babying me. Lightfoot is on his own and so am I.”
“Sagy is mad,” a small voice said. “Her eyes are red.”
Sagarrish turned around she look at the young unicorn with a mean face and said, “you little brat. When will you learn to keep your mouth shut?”
“Never,” the small voice said.
Sagarrish walked to the pack and changed into a dog.
Chapter: 8 The Night Sky
That night Ewolf was up on a hill looking at the stars. She looked at the constellations. She knew that none of them were like the ones on earth. She looked down at the pack. I missed Luster, but now I miss Fluke. I’ll never return. I miss Emily too. Soon Jenna and Balto will miss Rosie and then I can go home with them. She saw something that reminded her of her real home, Pegasus. Ewolf knew that she didn’t belong here. Earth was her real home. But first I’ll get rid of Beloved. Her first then Earth. Once I take care of Beloved I’ll go home. Ewolf picked up a deadly scent, Beloved. Now was her chance. Beloved was the reason her ancestors left Earth. She remembered the story of how Beloved’s father was killed because unicorn saved her. Beloved’s father thought the unicorn was going to kill Beloved. So her father tried to kill the unicorn but instead killed himself and the unicorn.
Ewolf looked toward where the scent of Beloved came from. The old woman appeared. Fear captured her.
“Hello dog,” she said.
“Hello,” Ewolf said.
“Don’t Want too sleep with the Pack,” the old woman said.
“Yeah,” Ewolf said. “Our pack came here to get away from man. They killed the wolves one by one.”
“Just like what my men are trying to do with unicorns,” the old woman said.
“Yes,” Ewolf said.
“I don’t know why unicorns are so mean,” the old woman said. “Unicorns are so graceful though.”
“They’re not mean,” Ewolf said
“A unicorn killed my father,” the woman said.
“All because of a lie,” Ewolf said quietly.
“A lie,” Beloved said. Ewolf nodded. Beloved got up and walked down the hill, “I have learned much.” Ewolf sighed.
The next morning the queen came with a girl who looked a lot like Emily, Ewolf’s past owner on earth. Her name was Cara. Ewolf didn’t mind her at all for Cara’s Grandmother was a unicorn. Cara’s Grandmother was also the queen.
Chapter: 9 Wanting to go home
Every night Ewolf would be so depressed if anyone brought the conversation about earth. She wanted to go back to earth, to Fluke, to Emily, and to Nome. For Balto also wanted to go back to home. Balto missed Boris so much. Both wanted to fallow the voice that they both heard at night. It called them home but they didn’t fallow it. Then one night Jenna felt the same pain as Balto and Ewolf did. Jenna told both of them Then Balto went to Aniu.
“It is too dangerous,” she said. “There is no one to guide you.”
“I could,” Ewolf said. “I know every inch of it.”
“All right,” she said. “You may go.”
Balto, Jenna, and Ewolf smiled and said, “Yahoo!”
Chapter: 10 Going Home
Ewolf led the small team of dogs. All three were happy because they were going home. Ewolf thought about see Fluke again. At night Ewolf looked up at the stars that shone Brightly. This would be the last time she would she see the stars. On their last day in Luster (Well they thought so) a band of Delvers suprerosed them when they were right in front of the cave that would bring them. They were trapping the threesome in the cave but they Delvers didn’t know that the cave was one of the ways to get to earth.
“What do we do?” Jenna asked.
“Run into the cave,” Ewolf said. “If they come after you I’ll stop them.”
Balto and Jenna did as they were told. They bolted into the cave. They ran right to the back of it. Jenna saw gemstones everywhere.
“Balto look,” she gasped.
“Let’s go though,” Balto said.
“All right,” she said. Looking at the opening of the cave. Balto counted to three and they both jumped into the wall of the cave. Meanwhile, back where Ewolf was the Delvers were closing in on her. Ewolf licked her chops.
“Dog before, unicorn after,” she whispered. She transformed into a unicorn. Then she ran into the cave. She didn’t stop running until she smelled the pine trees. Sagarrish heard a howl in the distance. She reared and screamed in victory. A gust of wind whipped her mane and tail as she reared. She heard a rustle in the bushes but didn’t stop rearing. She looked at the bushes there was standing the one she would miss the most if she stayed in Luster, Fluke. Sagarrish jumped toward him and lower her horn to him.
“Who are you,” the wolf asked.
“Sagarrish,” Sagarrish said. “I have missed you very much Fluke.”
“How do you know my name?” Fluke asked
“Unicorn before, dog after,” she whispered. Once again the ray of light captured her. When it dissipated she was now a dog.
“Ewolf,” Fluke said. Yipping in puppy hood.
“Yes,” she said. “It’s me.”
“Let’s go back to Nome,” Fluke said.
“I can’t wait.”
Chapter: 11 Home
Ewolf was so happy to see the Boiler room gang again. Even though she didn’t have her real family with her it was like her family were the Boiler Room gang.
All three dogs had missed home so much. And they were all happy to return the little town they call Nome. But the dogs call it home.
