Pups!!!

"so you want pups" Balto said to Jenna. This was about the 5th time Jenna had brought up the topic of pups. "Yes I do Balto all the other female dogs in Nome have had pups but me" Jenna said stubbornly. "you under stand they will be half wooooooooooooolffffffffffffffffff" Balto said just as he slid down on a patch of ice in to a snow drift. "Balto!!" Jenna said shocked "Are you OK?." "Fine I think" Balto wined. He tried to stand but fell. His leg was in agony. Balto wined . He knew a broken limb in the wild meant death from infection or starvation. "Balto are you OK" Jenna wined as she slid down the ice on to a ledge. "not sure" Balto wined "But I can’t stand up." Jenna Looked at Balto’s leg and saw it was swollen already. Balto got to his feet. He stumbled up to the ledge where Jenna was. "at least its not snowing now" Balto said with a grin. "come on I think its OK just a sprain" "are you sure?" Jenna wined she knew that Balto was as concerned as she was. "yes il make it" Balto said.
Later that day Balto was lying on the deck of the old trawler he called home looking out to sea. Balto leg was still in agony but he was comforted by the feel of Jenna’s warm body pressed to his side. "are you sure your all right? you took quite a fall." "Jenna look im OK" balto said but deep inside he wasn’t so sure. Balto knew Jenna was still thinking about pups like he was. he didn’t Know what to do. He would have said "yes OK" straight away if he hadn’t been half wolf. Jenna was thinking about that too. she knew Balto was half wolf but that would mean the pups would be a quarter. "Balto" "Jenna" they both said at the same time. They laughed "you first" Balto said "well its just if we had pups they would be half wolf do you think they would look wolf?" "umm im not really sure but do we mind? I know I don’t" "well if you don’t I don’t" Jenna said with a grin.
later that night Balto and Jenna were in deep conversation about if they should have pups or not when suddenly "Jenna where are you girl" Roseys voice called. Both Balto and Jenna looked over the ship to see Rosy dressed in a blue anorak and fur lined boots. "There you are Jenna" Rosy said as she came up the board on to the boat. She gave Balto and Jenna a hug.
"where have you been rosy" Rose’s dad called as rosy came in at 7:30 at night with Jenna and Balto at her side. "I’ve been with Jenna and Balto" she said as she kicked off her boots and took off her anorak. Balto turned to go back out when Rosy asked her father if he could stay. He stopped dead in his tracks. He waited for an answer "Well I guess he can" rose’s dad said. "yay" Rosy said as she went to hug Balto.
Later that night Balto was lying next to Jenna on the rug near the fire. Jenna had her head on Balto’s neck and Balto’s head was on Jenna’s paws. Balto was asleep when he was woken by Jenna. "What is it Jenna" Balto asked tiredly. "Balto do you want pups" Jenna asked curiously. "of coarse why" Balto asked.
"Well do you want them with me?" Jenna asked with a tear welled up in her eyes. "what gave you the idea I want pups with some one else" Balto said as he sat up and nuzzled Jenna. He wiped the tears away with his paw.
"come on" Jenna said as Balto walked to the door. Balto and Jenna walked out on to the quite street. They walked to the edge of the forest. "I’ll see you later" Balto said as he walked in to the forest.
"where are you kemo" Balto howled as he walked through the forest. "right ... here" Kemo said as he jumped on his best friend "Balto thats the 5th time this month." when kemo saw the look on Balto’s face he stopped. "what’s wrong?" Kemo asked
"pups" Balto answered. "yeah what about them?"
"Well..." Balto explained about how Jenna wanted pups.
"well all I can say is let it come naturally" Kemo said. And with that Balto left.
"I’m back Jenna" Balto wined into the open door of Jenna’s house. there was no answer. Balto went to the old sea trawler he called home. "I’v been waiting for you" Jenna wined "whats wrong Jenna?" Balto asked. as he lied down by Jenna.
Balto and Jenna talked and talked until Jenna said flatly "Balto I want puppies" With a glint in both Balto’s and Jenna’s eyes Balto nuzzled Jenna.
Later that night new life was growing in Jenna.
The next morning Jenna’s stomach had already started to swell. Balto and Jenna had stopped on the boat that night. Jenna was still asleep even after Balto had been up for an hour. Balto stayed by Jenna all night trying to keep her warm. he knew she couldn’t survive at this temperature very long even with his old blanket. He felt Jenna shiver as she woke up. "Morning" Balto said as Jenna looked at him. Balto rested his paw on Jenna’s back. "Morning" Jenna said slowly "how can you survive this temperature its so cold" she shivered. "its because im half wolf" Balto said stedily "but it can get cold"
later that day Balto had taken Jenna to her house and had put her near the fire. Balto had stayed with her all this time and he wasn’t giving up now. He lied down besides her. they nuzzled each other and then went in to deep conversation about caring for the pups when rosy came in. "see you tomorowwwww" Balto said as he dashed out of the front door and to the old trawler. Balto hid under the old blanket and went to sleep.
"Balto Balto wake up" Jenna said softly to Balto "huh oh hi Jenna" Balto said as he got up and put the blanket over Jenna. Balto lied back down by her side. "what brings you here so late" Balto said looking at Jenna. "I came to bring you home" Jenna said "rosy wants you to stay she is in tears" "but wont I get shouted at?" Balto asked. "no they didn’t shout at me" Jenna replied. "well ok come on" Balto said as he got to his feet and helped Jenna up.
Back at Jenna’s house. Balto and Jenna were lying on the rug in front of the fire. Jenna’s head was on Balto’s neck and Balto’s head was on Jenna’s paws. they were both asleep when rosy came down at midnight. Jenna was woken up by the feel of being stroked. she looked up at her owner who gave her a hug. then rosy gave Balto a hug. Balto lifted his head up. his tail started to wag as soon as he saw rosy. "im so glad I know you two you’re the best" Rosy whispered. she stroked the two dogs. then she went back up the stairs. Balto and Jenna nuzzled then went back to sleep.
The next morning Balto and Jenna were still lying on the rug. it was 9:30 and rosy had gone out with her parents. Balto was sitting up when Jenna woke up. "good morning" Balto said as jenna looked up at him. Jenna yawned. "morning Balto" Jenna said. She winced when she saw the size of her stomach.Balto put a reasuring paw on Jenna’s shoulder. "I’ll like you big or small" Balto said. Jenna smiled. "thank you Balto" she replied. Balto nuzzled Jenna. They both waged their tails. Balto got up. he looked around the room. Jenna got up slowly. "where are you going Balto?" Jenna asked. "nowhere" Balto answered. he sat down. "anything you want to do?" Balto asked
"nope but anything you do I want to come." Jenna replied.
That night rosy came for another midnight visit. when she had left Balto asked "Jenna how can you stand those hugs they strangle me" "you get used to it" Jenna replied with a smile.
"i guess I’ll have to" Balto wined but he was smiling to.
"Balto, Balto wake up" Jenna said softly. "What is it Jenna?" Balto asked. He sat up. he could see its was about 5:30am because it was still dark. "do you want to go see the sun rise?" Jenna asked with a smile. "sure" Balto answered as he got up. "i’ll meet you there" Balto said "OK" Jenna replied. Balto had gone to get his Blanket.
Balto wraped the blanket over a shivering Jenna. They both lied down. "Isn’t it beautiful Balto?" Jenna asked smiling "yea beautiful" Balto replied but he was looking at Jenna.
Days and days passed. Balto and Jenna were in Jenna’s house when she growned. "whats wrong?" Balto asked. "cramp" Jenna said odviously in pain. "Balto i think its the puppys there coming" she sounded in pain.......
