Yes, some of the many attempts I made at writing a program, actually ended up semi-finished. Out of those few, I am presenting here those that also work.

A few preliminaries:

  		•  Please do not link to the software from your homepage. Only link to this page.
  		•  Please do not publish the software elsewhere. Only download it for your own or your friends’ personal use. In particular, do not publish it on any CD or other medium that you intend to sell.
  		•  Please do not link to this page or any of the games from your freeware site if it has more than 1000 visitors per day! This happened before and it overloaded this slow server.
  		•  Please do not send me mail for the sole purpose of complaining, flaming, or swearing at me. Such mail will not be read.

    I do encourage you to get in contact with me if you have any constructive comments or suggestions for improvement of any of the software.

    All the software presented on this page was solely developed by myself using Borland Delphi.

    This is my PC version of the popular board game Scrabble. You can play the computer at various strength settings as well as other players. Internet play is not supported. You can save games, take back moves, and other functions. Dictionaries are available in several languages, and you can customize them yourself. (You only need to download the game once. To add more languages, download the appropriate Language Packs.)

    If you have questions about Scrabble, please read the Scrabble FAQ before you send me mail. I will not reply to questions that are answered there.

    • If you have Version 2.2, you have to download one of the above to upgrade.
    • If you have Version 2.3 or 2.4, you can upgrade by downloading this smaller archive. Extracting this to your Scrabble directory will keep your installed Language Packs and dictionaries unaltered.
    • If you have Version 2.5, you only need to update the exe file.



    Warning: Scrabble may be racist!
    In my Scrabble FAQ, I mention what languages I can read. At some point, Scrabble was featured on a Spanish freeware site, and subsequently I received a lot of e-mail in Spanish, so I added a comment asking people not to send mail in Spanish as I wouldn't understand it. Apparently, Mr. Nicolás Jiménez found this so exhaltingly offensive that he went for the trouble of sending me a highly amusing hate-mail in which I am described as "racist" and "Nazi". He goes on to explain that "such a sucker can't have possibly written a good game". If you're this easily offended, I highly recommend against downloading Scrabble, much less playing it; for all you know, the computer might play "fuck" next to "you".

    Chocolate Chomp!

    Chocolate Chomp! is a very interesting and challenging game with a very simple set of rules. You just eat up the chocolate. :-) You can easily understand the game by simply trying it, so there is no need to explain it. Except maybe that the player who eats the last piece of chocolate loses.

    If you are a beginner at this game, you should try square bars of chocolate to begin with. Rectangular sizes are a lot more challenging. If you can beat the computer at a rectangular size, you should immediately have your IQ tested!

    Memory

    Memory
    Memory is a well-known game. I hope I don’t have to explain how to play it. This computerized version is designed for only one player, but of course you can play it with several players if you keep the score yourself. It accepts any Jpeg files for the pictures, no other graphics formats are yet supported.

    Sixdice
    Sixdice

    Sixdice is a simple dice game where you have to connect several dice with arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponentiation) to create an expression that equals 6.

    This program applies a sort of 3D effect to an image.

    Ingredients: Take a colourful image, like a wooden/marble/etc. texture (this was used for the picture on the right) or a cloudy sky, though a plain coloured picture will do just as well. Add to this a greyscale image that depicts a symbol, a line of text or anything like that (this was used for the picture on the right). Put these into Emboss, stir, and - lo and behold - your black-and-white graphic will have been textured with the other image, along with an interesting 3D emboss effect.

    The program knows two different kinds of edge, plus you can vary its width. You can also influence the position of the light source.

    Emblems which are very well suitable for this program are often contained in symbol font files like Wingdings, Dingbats or the like, which you can download from one of the many fonts sites on the web.     Mandelbrot

    The ever-so-famous miracle of mathematics, a picture of purity and beauty... the Mandelbrot fractal, and those derived from it: The Julia fractals.

    Have fun zooming in and out, move your trusty mouse around, then you draw a Julia and see what’s so peculiar. What a rhyme! The program knows two different algorithms to draw the fractal, and there are more fun features to explore.

    Convlogs

    Convlogs
    This little console application converts logs from the IRC bot “infobot” into logs that look like those from mIRC for Windows, so they can be used to create statistics using the popular mIRCstats program. Convlogs automatically filters out all private messages sent to and by the bot, but converts every line, topic, join/part, mode change, etc. Unfortunately, action poses appear as normal lines, because the bot logs them like that.
