1. Mandate and policy:
   • This mailing list is provided specifically for the discussion of The Lion King and all things otherwise germane to The Lion King.

   • This mailing list is designed to run in tandem with, but not replace the Usenet newgroup alt.fan.lion-king. Messages posted to this mailing list may be forwarded to the newsgroup via the "Simbaiosis" pipeline depending on the posting method used.

   • Whereas discussion outside the primary focus of this mailing list is permitted to some extent the moderator of this group reserves the right to estop any discussions that are felt to be extraneous to the mandate of this mailing list.

   • Due to the "family" nature of the subject matter of this group profanity and otherwise inflammatory discussion is actively discouraged. Offenders will receive what the moderator feels to be fair warning if their behavior in this mailing list is unacceptable. Failure to respond to these warnings or frequent and repeated offenses may result in loss of mailing privileges within this mailing list, and in extreme cases, a letter of complaint to the system administrator of the offender's service provider.

2. Subscribing and Unsubscribing:
   • Subscribing to the Lion King Mailing List can be done as follows:

     Visit the list majordomo at: http://lionking.org/~zazu

     Or send an e-mail message to: majordomo@lionking.org

     The subject line of the message may be blank. The first line in the body of the message should read:

          SUBSCRIBE TLK-L

     In addition, there is a digest version of the Lion King list available. To subscribe to the digest version the first line in the body of the message should read:

          SUBSCRIBE TLK-L DIGEST

   • Unsubscribing from the Lion King Mailing List can be done as follows:

     Address a message to: majordomo@lionking.org

     The subject line of the message may be blank. The first line in the body of the message should read:

          UNSUBSCRIBE TLK-L

   • If you have any questions or concerns please address them to your friendly list admistrator:

3. Mailing List Etiquette:
   • Please try to keep your mail in topic. While we don't want to stifle friendly conversation please remember that the primary purpose of this mailing list is to discuss The Lion King.

   • Please don't over quote messages. The text that you add to the message should not be shorter than the quoted portion of the message.

   • Please try to avoid profanity and abusive behavior; remember that this is a family oriented mailing list. Don't say things that you wouldn't want your kids to hear because chances are someone's kids WILL be reading it.

   • Please be reasonable with the length of your signatures. As a good rule of thumb a signature should be shorter than the message it is appended to.

   • Please unsubscribe from this mailing list if you are going to be away from your mail server for any length of time. Nobody likes to get "mailbox full" or "unknown user" messages bouncing back on every post.

   • Please use personal e-mail to reply to messages when appropriate. Use the List only for messages which concern, or could be interesting to, multiple members of the List

4. Alerts and Warnings:
   • There are two e-mail addresses for posting mail to the list. The "public" address will forward all mailing list posts to the usenet newsgroup alt.fan.lion-king. When posting in this way be careful not to post anything to this mailing list that you do not want the entire Lion King community to see. The "private" address will post mail to the list but will not forward it to alt.fan.lion-king.

   • The list of applicants on this mailing list is not secure. The server at lionking.org will supply a list of available mailing lists and subscribers thereon to anybody upon request.

   • This list can generate a large volume of messages. If you are not prepared, or equipped to deal with upwards of 100 messages on some days then you might consider following this mailing list via its Usenet feed.

   • The reply-to line is set to the List address by default. When a letter is sent over the List with a reply-to line already on it, that line is left alone. Some users' mail software automatically places a reply-to line (with the user's address) in the header; others' software doesn't. Please make sure the To: address(es) is/are correct whenever replying, publicly or privately, to any List message.
