You may want your character to join a pack (or clan/gang etc) Packs are safer than living as a lone, you may find good friends there that will protect you in times of need, or even a future mate!
Packs will help you hunt and keep you safe when you are injured. If you fight an alpha for their pack though, you will get a bad name from the creatures in that pack and may not ever be accepted there again. Creatures who have lived in a pack for a long time serving under alphaship may still want to try and fight for the pack, maybe taking advantage of an alpha when he or she is injured from an earlier fight. Be careful who you trust in a pack, though most would never do such a thing.
