SARABI'S DESTINY *Our Story begins In The Outlands, at the time right before Kovu's, Kiara's and Vitani's Birth. * ______ New Characters Tihkahn- The best and only friend of Nuka, a dark outlander female, of 1 year. ______ Sarabi lay in the grass, her head down, as she smiled. She saw the grasses twist in the wind, and the sight of Nala getting fatter every day. She smiled yet again, yet she knew that she would not see her grandcub. She stood up, to go see Simba, and to tell him her time would soon come. She stretched a final time in the grass. Perhaps a bit longer to rest her old bones. Deep in the outlands, 2 lions sat talking to one another. "Tihkahn, I don't know about this. Do you really think my mother will be proud of me if I do it?" "Of course she will, Nuka," replied Tihkahn. She scratched a termite under her ear before continuing. "It's the perfect plan. When your mother goes off into the caves to find dinner, we will head off to the pridelands. It will take us a day or so to get there. When we arrive, I'll..." They began to whisper even lower, so that now one else would hear. Back in the pridelands, Sarabi groaned. "Oh Simba," she said. "How can I explain?" she spoke to the air. She was trying to find a way to say her time had come to Simba. Suddenly flashes appeared in her mind. Simba, held up at the ceremony. Simba, going off to the water-hole. Scar, approaching them all in the charred dust of the evening, announcing the deaths of Simba and Mufasa. Hyenas, cackling into the dust and dry air. Being struck by Scar after her denial of food in the pridelands. Simba, rethroned, and roaring his kingship to the whole world. She did not get up that day. She was caught up in memories. Oh, why had she taken that time for granted? Why had she not realized she should be gracious for her long life? Funny, how it came to her now, when she could not do a thing about it. She awoke late the next day to a cackling voice. "Hello, your majesty," said a lanky, scruff looking outsider. She roared pitifully, and yelped for help. "Simba! Outsiders! Help me...going...to..kill me..." she heaved up her last strength and struck down the outsider. She took for granted the time he was recovering- she ambled off towards Rafiki's boabab tree. "Rafiki! help..." she whined pitifully. She ducked into the deep grasses and walked to he River of Pride. "Mufasa, guide my spirit, to your resting place among the sedge." she called out. A wind drifted, catching leaves and milkweed. She turned her head, her mouth open in enchantment. The wind rushed the milkweed and leaves towards a dark place on the outskirts of the jungle. She took a step forward. The wind stopped. She backed up. The wind swirled off in the direction of the elephant graveyard. "My destiny!" she snarled. She felt a waft of strength come towards her as she took off towards the eerie graveyard. Back at Pride Rock, Simba had herd the cries of Sarabi. He rushed out to where Nuka stood, sniffing, in the grass. Tihkahn sat hidden in the shadows of the rock. "Where is she, outlander?" roared Simba. Nuka turned around and began to hightail it. Not fast enough, though. Simba lunged after him and pinned him to the ground. "I'M SORRY!" he screamed pitifully. "IT WAS HER IDEA! HERS! DON'T KILL ME! DON'T! SPARE ME, SIRE!" he yelped. Simba looked on disgusted. "You do not speak of me as your Sire!" he said. "You are not one of us, you stinking coward. Now tell me what you did to my mother!" Nuka trembled. "I came up her to try and...well...kill her." Simba roared. "I saw her groaning in the grass, muttering to herself, when suddenly she saw me. She struck me down. I saw her tike off in the direction of the Pride River." "You mean the River Of Pride." interuppted Simba. "Yeah, whatever." Simba roared. "Anyway, I didn't see her after that." Simba roared in his face, giving him a full view of is teeth. "How dare you," he said, shuddering. "How dare you! You scar my mother off! You shall be executed at sunrise. Kitaka, Viaka. Guard him in the exuections chamber." Suddenly Thkahn walked loftily out of her hiding spot. "Forgive me, Simba, but he did not draw royal blood. Therefore you may not execute him." Simba looked around at Zazu. "Yes, sire, forgive me also, but Royal Demands say that if the lion did not draw royal blood, they may not be executed, but, they may be exiled." "But he's already exiled! And the charge for denying exile is warning- on second charge-death! Get off my land, you scum- quickly before I change my mind. Come back again. and your head will be lying apart from you in the River Of Pride." "You mean the Pride River," snorted Nuka. Anyways, he rushed from the lands with Tihkahn. Simba sadly led his lionesses back to Pride Rock. He looked out on the horizon, thnking of his mother. Yet he knew Mufuasa would guide her. Along with the other kings of the past. And Ahiehu. Sarabi plodded towards the hyena lands. her voice echoed a song she had heard once, long ago. "The royal blood you have drawn will be your death upon the dawn Flee not cursed stranger For your time has come." Her eyes gleamed red. She approached the hyena land. Stepping among the ruins, the lioness sniffed around and identified the scent of Shenzi and Banzai. She growled, her hackles rising, and walked on. "We sure gave old Scar the slip." said a female hyena. "Yeah, we're good! Lions don't go down very well though," said a male. "Just like old Muffy," said the female. "Didn't know Scar had left Simba there on purpose. Didn't know he had planned the stampede. Didn't know we had a part in it." Suddenly Sarabi sprang. She landed upon Shenzi. The hyena squealed in surprise- then she fought back. Yet Sarabi had the law of the Lion with her- and the forces of Aheihu. It was an unequal fight. Sarabi was old and weak- but Shenzi was the wrongdoer. Sarabi fought bravely-but suddenly she felt a blissful feeling. She sank down nto the floor of the graveyard. "Hah! Old lioness bit off more than she could chew!" said Shenzi. Suddenly sarabi felt a rush of anger. Death was coming- she knew, for both of them. She would meet it here. If it was coming anyway she knew she must avenge Mufasa and kill the one who had so mistakenly drawn royal blood. Sarabi and Shenzi both lay on the floor. Yet there was one difference. Sarabi suddenly drifted up, as if from sleep, and headed out to the darkness among the jungles. And there she lay, forever caught in time.
