Vitani's Reign: Part 2

by Mauia

Go Back

"Keari, what are you doing here?" Vitani questioned her in shock. "Where are you going?" "I'm just going home, that's all, now please Keari you should get home before..."

"Vitani." A voice said from the shadows. Vitani looked straight ahead of her to see the form of a lioness sitting in the darkness. It was foggy all around so she couldn't tell who it was.

"Who are you?" she asked and the lioness stepped forward. "I'm ashamed Vitani, don't you recognize me?" The lioness said calmly. Vitani looked her over and seen the she was covered in scars. Her pelt was also a dark tan color. Vitani knew she recognized her, but wasn't sure why. "Don't you recognize your own mother?" the lioness hissed.

"Zira." Vitani gasped. "Good girl Vitani, you do remember." "But you're, you're d..." "Dead." "Yes, you fell over the water fall into the river and..." "Survived, all thanks to the pride of the Old Lands."

"The pride of the Old Lands?" Vitani questioned as she did not see any other lions around her. "Everyone step forward!" Zira called out and at once about ten lionesses and three lions stepped into view out of the fog.

As Vitani gazed around at the pride before her she couldn't help but gasp. "And you'll be happy to know that we've come to find you dear." Zira growled. Vitani began to get very nervous. Keari didn't know what was going on because she was born after Zira had fallen over the water fall.

"Keari, you should get home and hurry, don't tell anyone where I am!"Vitani told her niece and the young lioness ran off in fear. "What do you want with me?" She asked once she turned back to Zira.

"We've come to take over the pridelands and you are going to help us out with that?" "Why do you need my help?" "Because those stupid pridelanders trust you and if I'm correct you are supposed to be the rightful queen, am I wrong?"

"Yes, but because you stole me away from my real mother, Nala, she passed that spot down to Kiara." "How would you like to become queen?" "I've thought about it, but I don't want to be a part of your evil plan Zira.

"You have no choice, you betrayed me once Vitani and I'm not going to let you do it again." Zira snarled.

Vitani stood there with her head hanging low. She knew that Zira was right about her betraying her family once before, but she was a pridelander now and she didn't want to betray her real family. "I won't help you." she said quietly and began to walk off.

Zira ordered one of the three males that was with her to stop Vitani and he immediately jumped out in front of her. She looked at him and gasped. He resembled Simba in many ways. He was young like she was and had a half grown reddish-brown mane against a golden pelt and his eyes were rust red.

"Stop, you can't go, we need your help."He said and amazingly his voice sounded nearly the same as Simba's. Vitani tried to walk past him, but he was soon joined by Zira and another lioness that looked just as evil as her.

"You will help us Vitani, it is your duty and besides you are the true queen of the pridelands, it's all for you that we are doing this."Zira hissed. "Your not doing this for me, you just want to use me so that you can take over and I won't let that happen and besides if I become queen who will be my king?"

"SCAR!!!" Zira roared and the hair on Vitani's back rose. She had only known her father a little and never formed a father daughter relationship with him. She was a little suprised when she seen a young teenage cub running forward. He came to a stop by Zira's side and said, "Yes mother, what is it?"

"Vitani, I'd like you to meet Vutui or as we like to call him Scar Jr." Zira said. Vitani looked at the young lion before her and soon realized why he was nicknamed Scar Jr. His fur was dark brown like Scar's had been and he had the beginnings of a pitch-black mane. He had all of Scar's markings as well, but she knew that he was way to young to be a cub sired by Scar and so she asked, "Who's his father?"

"I am." a voice said as one of the other adult male lions stepped forward from out of the fog. "Litari." Vitani gasped recognizing him immediately as Kovu's father. His pelt was lighter tan in color, but his mane was pitch-black like his son's. His eyes were orange like Kovu's, but Vutui's were green like Scar's were.

"Vitani, when you become queen, he will be your king."Zira answered. "What, him, but he's a little bit younger than my niece and nephews, I can't marry him and I won't." "Yes you will Vitani, we're not giving you a choice, you will take your rightful place as queen of the pridelands and in doing so you will help me avenge the death of your father, my beloved Scar."

"I don't know why you need my help." "Because they trust you there dear and it will be easier for you to convince that brat daughter of Simba's to step down." "Kiara is my sister and I will never do anything to harm her." "No one said you had to, just talk her into letting you become queen."

"No I can't." "You will." Zira hissed and raised a clawed paw to threaten Vitani. Vitani lowered her head again and said, "Fine, have it your way." "Good and now that you will be helping us, I suppose I should introduce you to everyone, to my left we have Monah." Zira said looking at the other lioness who had helped stop Vitani from running off. The lioness glared at Vitani and then nuzzled the male lion that resembled Simba.

"And over there we have King Kutuva, he ruled the Old Lands." Zira sneered looking at a large male lion that had a light brown pelt and a sandy-brown mane. His eyes were dark brown and when he stepped forward Vitani shivered because he was much larger than she was.

"Hello miss." He greeted her with a deep voice and bowed his head. She didn't reply. "And over there we have Tahini and her daugther Nakava." Zira said. The two lionesses stepped forward. They were both dark tan in color, but Nakava was much darker. The tuft of Nakava's tail was black while her mother's was like brown. They didn't really look like mother and daugther except for one feature that they both shared and that was that they each had icy-blue eyes. They both greeted Vitani and then sat quietly waiting for Zira to finish the introduction.

There were a few more lionesses, but Vitani didn't really care to listen to their names, all she was wondering was who was the male standing in front of her, Zira had failed to mention his name. "Zira, who is this?" she asked boldly and Monah stepped forward angrily. "It's none of your business." she hissed, but Zira stopped her and said, "Vitani, this is Tanobi."

Once again Vitani had to gasp in shock. Tanobi was killed a long time ago or so she was told, but if this was really him, then it meant that he was in actuality the real true future king of the pridelands. "But he's rightfully king before me." she said. "No he's not, you were born long before he was, he was born with Kiara, so you are the true heir to the pridelands and you will be the queen whether you like it or not." Zira growled and motioned for Vitani to follow her. She did without any hesitation and behind her the rest of the Old Lands pride followed.
