9/18/98: Return to Pride Rock, a companion CD to the TLK sequel Simba's Pride, has been released, and is available in many record stores nationwide. The CD consists of "Songs inspired by the movie Simba's Pride", and features songs from the movie as well as original pieces by Lebo M.
There is some confusion as to whether Return to Pride Rock is in fact the soundtrack CD to Simba's Pride; The soundtrack is slated for general release on September 29, so we will know for certain then.

11/16/97: The Original Broadway Cast Recording of the TLK Broadway Musical has been released. The songs are largely adaptations of what we've heard on "Rhythm of the Pride Lands", with new lyrics and contexts. It's worth checking out! See some of the sound and video clips in the TLK Musical section of this site.
In other news, word is that the cast will be expanded to form two separate productions, doubling the exposure of the Musical in its initial run. See this news clipping (thanks to Gary Nosal) on the subject.

10/17/97: The Lion King Broadway Musical has opened in its official premiere on Broadway!

7/8/97: It's here! The Lion King Broadway Musical has opened its premiere engagement until August 31, and the acclaim has been great. Opening will be November 13. New scans of playbills and merchandise are in the Image Archive, and reviews are being added to the Text Files Archive.

5/6/97: Yet more fanfare for the TLK Musical: a newspaper ad also scanned by Sean Silvernail.

5/3/97: At last, visuals and story material for the TLK Musical in an article scanned by Sean Silvernail from Today, a magazine from Dayton's.

4/4/97: The data on the TLK Musical continues to flow.

3/11/97: The Lyrics Archive

An all-new section, devoted to lyrics lists of all the movie's songs and the Elton John versions. Includes links to audio files of the songs.

2/5/97: The rumors continue to grow. Here's more info on the TLK Broadway musical production, a report on the show taken from the Disney 1996 stockholders' brochure.

12/6/96: An update on Simba's Pride, the sequel to TLK. Posted on rec.arts.disney.animation, here's the scoop. Note! There is NO guarantee of validity of this information or its source.

11/6/96: Information is at last available on the TLK Musical production; here is a release from PlayBill Online (converted by Chris Boyce). More news is to come.

7/25/96: It's official. There will be a TLK Musical production, with music by Tim Rice and Elton John. More on this as it develops; I'll post director interviews and preview material.
